Construction

Broadblue 38 Prestige built by Broadblue Catamarans Ltd in 2003. White GRP one piece hulls, superstructure, and decks with moulded non-slip surfaces. Integrally moulded keels to both hulls, sealed from the hull creating a double bottom. Hydraulic wheel steering at cockpit helm to twin skeg hung rudders (refurbished 2018). Self-draining cockpit.

Manufacturer's Description

All Broadblue catamarans are rated to the highest level of European Recreational Craft Directive: Category A (Ocean) and are built using Lloyds approved materials.

Both one-piece hull and deck mouldings are hand-laid glassfibre, using power-bound mat, biaxial woven rovings, isophthalic resin, and Kevlar reinforcement in high-load areas. Below the waterline, the hulls are solid laminate, while the topsides and deck incorporate an end grain balsa core. The deck has an integrally moulded non-slip finish. The hull and deck join is fully bonded and protected by a substantial rubbing strake. Many of the structural bulkheads are of vacuum-bagged foam core, and when the interior furniture is fully bonded in, a light and stiff ‘honeycomb’ structure is created.

The PRESTIGE 38 is virtually unsinkable due to its watertight bulkheads and buoyancy compartments fore and aft. The keels are integrally moulded and sealed off from the hulls formimg a double bottom. Designed and engineered for ocean sailing, they are an outstanding family cruiser with excellent and versatile accommodation.

Proven design:
Monocoque engineering creates massive structural integrity,
Mini nacelle acts as a longitudinal stiffener, while high clearance and arching of the bridgedeck provides added strength and deflect solid water contact,
Reduced weight in bow and transom reduces pitching and improves stability,
Absolutely safe and simple handling for a two person crew.

Proven performance:
High-volume hull dramatically improves performance,
Low-aspect profiled keels and elliptical rudder profiles achieve tremendous lift,
Optimum sail area/displacement and advanced double spreaders achieve fast speeds under breeze,
Flatter underwater hulls reduce drag and minimize stern wash for super off wind performance,
Plexiglass bi-fold door from cockpit helps to achieve a superbly light, bright ‘open plan’ design.

Proven comfort:
Truly ergonomic navigation and electronics station,
Individually appointed interior,
Luxury size berths and ensuite facilities.

Proven style:
Plexiglass bi-fold door from cockpit helps to achieve a superbly light, bright ‘open plan’ design,
Panoramic views from spacious salon,
Innovative sculpted bathroom.
