Bette Ruby
‘Bette Ruby’ is a traditional wooden fishing boat that has been professionally converted into a wonderful floating home. She was built in 1947 in Thyboron, Denmark for the Ruby family to the highest specifications for fishing out of the rough North Sea. After she retired from fishing, she was a diving charter boat for several years in Scotland before being brought down to the South coast as a liveaboard vessel. In 2015/16 she had a full interior re-fit, with a new galley (kitchen/living area) built on the deck. in 2019 she had a full hull restoration and was epoxy sheathed to ensure she has many years of hassle free life ahead.
Accommodation:-
Main entrance leads to the galley with a kitchen/diner area with a Belfast sink and built in Smeg appliances – fridge freezer, oven, grill, microwave and dishwasher. Panoramic views and plenty of light. Space saving stairs take you down into the cosy living room. The living room has a built in corner sofa (pulls out into a double bed) and a multi-fuel stove which provides heating throughout the living space. There is plenty of built in storage which contains a washing machine and the immersion boiler. TV can be housed in a cupboard with a pull out arm to save space. The living room leads into the bathroom which is built into the bow of the boat, giving it a really unique feel. This has a built-in shower, household flushing WC, mini-Belfast sink and heated towel rail. The bedroom has a built-in, king-size bed with storage underneath, along with 2 double wardrobes. The wheelhouse is accessed separately and is currently used as an office and a storage area. There is also an engine room, accessed independently from the rear deck which houses the original Hundested engine. The engine does not run and all associated running gear has been removed during the conversion. The space is currently used for storage but could be converted into additional living space or 2 additional bedrooms. On the foredeck, there is a raised deck area for spending time outside in the sun. In 2019 she had a full hull restoration at great expense and is now protected all over with epoxy sheathing. 2019 out of water survey available on request (lasts 7 years), along with pictures of all the work undertaken. 240v shore power and internet/landline connections with all lighting and appliances energy saving. A bilge and back up bilge system is installed.
Location and Mooring:-
The views and peacefulness are incredible, with stunning sunsets throughout the year looking up the creek. This is a real lifestyle change opportunity – get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the sea air. She is ready to move onto at short notice. The mooring she is currently on is available for 3 months from purchase or until the end of September, but there are several other viable options within Portsmouth Harbour – or we can help to arrange a tow to a mooring of your own choosing. Mooring fees apply which are inclusive of council tax and water.
Video viewings available, plenty of photos showing restoration work - get in touch with Ed onfor more information and/or a chat - serious enquirers only please.
