“Wendover" is a Dave Thomas built 60ft narrowbeam Dutch Barge with classic lines, considered to be one of the best examples of this type of boat from a builder with a reputation for construction of stunning boats. She was built in 1998 with cruiser stern, secure wheelhouse, stylist saloon with oak panelling and cupboards with lead lighting doors. There is a Morso Squirrel multi-fuel stove in the saloon, large fully fitted kitchen, including shoreline fridge freezer, bathroom with shower and double berth cabin with cross bed in the bow.
Wendover has a Lister LPW4 engine installed October 2023, with only 300 hours and a 12 month warranty certificate. It is a skin tank water cooled diesel engine with a PRM 150 Marine gearbox, new in 2017 and Vetus 50kgf bow thrusters, fully over-hauled in 2017.
She has 240 and 12 volt electrics throughout with a Mastervolt Combi 12/2500 inverter charger, 4 x 110amp Trojan batteries, 1 x 110amp starter battery, Stirling A to B battery management system (2020), 2 x 120 watt solar panels (2022) and12 volt LED lighting throughout with brass-mounted 240v spotlights.
Central heating is Hurricane SCH25 Diesel system with 5 radiators, and she has spray foam insulation.
A Masterwerks stern canopy and side rain sheets were added in 2018 and a 25kg anchor with warp and chain. The 20mm baseplate allows good headroom inside and the most recent full survey from 2016 is available.
She was last blacked in 2022 when anodes were replaced and comes with a BSC until November 2024.
She has heavy brass portholes to all cabins, large brass eagle tiller arm and brass ship's bell! There are many extras!
Many hundreds of miles and thousands of locks, from the river Nene to the river Stort, the river Thames to the Peak Forest, Llangollen and Montgomery Canals, to Royal Albert Docks in Liverpool, the Kennet & Avon and the Gloucester & Sharpness Canals. Despite doubting fellow boaters we've been through all the tunnels and bridges on the way, including the M5 at Droitwich and the Harecastle Tunnel!
We are now travelling slowly south on the Trent and Mersey Canal and you are welcome to visit any time.
