History Note

Designed by Henk Tingen, the chief naval architect for Royal Huismann, he had this yacht built by for his own use by Kok Shipyard at Muiden near Amsterdam. In due course he sold her to a family who took her to the USA and kept her on the Great Lakes where she remained for approximately 20 years. She was then sold on to a new owner in Maine on the East Coast and it was here that she partially sank due to a skin fitting failure. Mark Johnson a boat builder on Rhode Island then bought her and over the next 20 years carried out major refitting, information on which can be seen below. It was near completion of this project, when he was about to enjoy the fruits of his work on the boat that he was diagnosed with cancer and died very sadly before he could fulfil his dream. The current owners bought the boat from his partner, who it was had named her LUCY after his grandmother. Previous names had included CAIRNGORM and SAIL MATE. More recently LUCY has participated in the Antigua Classics and in 2016 was shipped to the UK.
