A semi-decked version of the Hockaday Bros' charming looking Yealm Crabber; a hull that was taken from a traditional, clinker-built inshore fishing boat - coincidentally, possibly the last original wooden-built example; 'SHAMROCK' (reputed to be over 100 years old) also continues to sail from here on the Millbrook creek too. ORCA has an enclosed cuddy beneath her for'deck and removable crew deck either side of the centreplate housing at the forward end of the cockpit. Solid hardwood abounds in this very attractive Yealm Crabber. We feel that the removable 'crew deck' panels that make for a easy boat to move about on, as well as providing practical stowage for all that family gear that inevitably and almost immediately accumulates upon the merest suggestion of sailing to a favourite anchorage for a picnic afloat! What a picture she presents, gently slipping from her mooring here on the Millbrook creek under her cream sails. Spars, Rig and Sails This Crabber is rigged as a Gunter rigged sloop, with an aluminium main mast (Sitka Spruce head and foot), stayed by 1x19 stainless steel rigging to stainless steel bottlescrews. A Rotostay furling system is fitted on the forestay. Sails by John McKillop: Dacron Mainsail Roller reefing Genoa No.1 Jib No.2 Jib. Auxiliary Engine A Mercury 3.3HP longshaft outboard is mounted on a transom-fitted, cantilevered outboard bracket for use when the wind drops light or to assist in congested mooring situations. Deck Gear and Miscellaneous Loose Equipm't. 25lb Plough-type anchor, rope and chain rode within dedicated cockpit accessed locker, Stainless steel stemhead fiting with bow roller, 2 no. self-tailing headsail sheet winches, Warps. +/-6 no. fenders. Pair of oars, Permanently mounted cockpit bilge pump, plus stirrup pump. Boom suspended cockpit cover. Acrylic mainsail cover.
