Showing much newer than her age... LOTUS has been extensively updated and lovingly maintained over the course of her years. She represents an excellent value and opportunity for her next owner to take advantage of the great efforts (and expense) put forth by her current owner and previous owners to make her a one-of-a-kind viable and reliable passagemaker as well as phenomenal liveaboard cruiser.

A well documented past allows one to look into the thorough refit that took place up until 2013, when the current owner took over and continued the established and appreciated record keeping that instills confidence in an already respected vessel.

The Island Gypsy 44 Trawler is one of few models of her size that have been noted for making Trans-Atlantic crossings. They are very capable passage makers with notable features being 800 gallon fuel capacity, full prop protecting keel, high freeboard at the bow, three stateroom layout with centerline queen berth in aft master stateroom and spacious accommodations both above and below deck.

Vessel overview

INTERIOR

Lotus exhibits the classic trawler profile with a spacious and appealing galley-up interior. She is built on a solid fiberglass, semi-displacement hull with hard chines, lots of freeboard, and a full-length prop-protecting keel. The interior arrangement includes two staterooms forward and a huge, full-beam master stateroom aft. The salon is spacious and both heads include stall showers. Finishing is superb with beautiful Burmese teak and storage is plentiful.

A centerline queen size berth in the master has an incredible amount of storage to both port and starboard. A clever dressing table with vanity is included to starboard. Master head includes a large stall shower. Main salon has the galley up with dinette forward on port, and lower helm station on starboard. Large opening windows within the salon provide a great feeling of openness and space. Forward are the two guest staterooms and guest head. Guest head includes a separate shower area. Guest stateroom forward includes a v berth and tons of storage. Third stateroom includes over-under bunks and engine room access.

The mechanical space is very accessible, with two large floor hatches in the salon that lift to allow unprecedented working space if needed. Extremely clean and well cared for, the engine room shows incredibly well, reflecting the continued care the boat has received over her tenure.

EXTERIOR

The flush deck design offers a massive gathering place and can accommodate up to 6-8 people comfortably for evening meals, sunsets and cocktails.

Up three steps to the flybridge, one enters the fully enclosed and protected upper helm area with a very nice L shaped settee with table, and two very comfortable STIDD helm chairs in perfect condition. To port is another double bench seat with storage below.

Walking forward one noticed the high gunnels and well-protected wide side decks. The foredeck has a Lewmar Windlass with a 55lb Rocna anchor.

Down a ladder to the large swim platform hangs the 2018 West Marine tender with a 9hp brand new Yamaha (new in 2019, approximately 3 hours total) on new davits. There is a St. Croix outboard lifting bracket installed as well if needed.

She's capable of offshore passages, as well as being a very comfortable liveaboard and/or Great Loop boat.

Vertical clearance:
Mast height: 22'
Fixed Bimini height: 16'6"

The mast can be stepped easily for the 19'6" low bridge on the loop - or if one preferred to modify it that's a possibility too.
