Tayana took it to another level once again when they built the 48’ DS. Designed for long range worldwide cruising, the Tayana 48 DS must be at the top of your list! This blue water yacht was designed and built with exceptional quality, and provides all one could ask for, speed under sail, safety in any sea condition and comfort found in few yachts of this size.
The 48 DS is a variation on the company's popular 48-footer. Designer Rob Ladd added a deck saloon and raised the floor structure on Bob Perry's original hull to create a spacious, open interior. Raising the saloon floor not only improved visibility from the cabin, but also opened more space for tankage. The large wrap-around saloon windows keep the living spaces bright, and the headroom is still 7’ with the raised floor. "Enchante" was constructed with Vinylester resins; therefore, she should never have an issue with blisters. Her hull is solid fiberglass from the bottom of the keel up to the waterline. Above the waterline, a core of PVC foam was added for stiffness and that continues to the deck joint.
When stepping aboard you will immediately notice her beauty and the quality of all onboard systems. Entering the large center cockpit that is fully enclosed with custom hardtop dodger you will feel the spaciousness and security she provides. Going thru the companionway and downstairs to the comfortable Salon there is settee with dining table to port and another settee and table to starboard. The navigation station is aft in Salon to starboard and the Galley is aft to port. Continuing aft thru the galley you will enter the master stateroom with queen bed and en-suite head with stall shower. Moving forward from the salon there is a washer/dryer to starboard in the companionway and the Head is located to port. The guest stateroom is forward and has private Head access.
If your dreams lie over the horizon, “ Enchante” is truly a one of a kind very well maintained Tayana 48 DS. She can take you anywhere in absolute safety, luxurious comfort and timeless style. She is a must to see and ready for the change of command.
The Tayana 48 is a solidly built Robert H. Perry design, and the cruising skipper can create an interior layout choosing from a range of options designed around the popular center cockpit configuration. The 40-foot waterline is relatively long to produce good speed, and the boats underwater profile features a long-chord keel of moderate draft and a solid rudder mounted on a large skeg for good tracking and control response. The hull has a moderate reverse transom. All these components together form a contemporary and well-proportioned boat. In winds that ranged from 10-20 knots for the test sail, the cutter rig 48 slid through the short, steep waves easily with a solid, gentle motion. The boat sails well to windward in these conditions, and off the wind it tracks ruler straight. The Tayana 48 DS is a variation on the companys popular 48-footer. Designer Rob Ladd added a deck salon and raised the floor structure on Bob Perrys original hull to create a spacious, open interior. Raising the salon floor not only improved visibility from the cabin, but also opened more space for tankage. Warm, traditional teak joinery is everywhere. The large wrap-around saloon windows keep the living spaces bright, and headroom will make any tall sailor smile. The master cabin aft is equipped with a large double bunk on centerline, a private head and stand-up shower stall, a hanging locker, and plenty of storage space. Two-and three-cabin accommodation plans are available for guest staterooms. On deck, toerails combine with 32-inch-tall lifelines and tree-sturdy stanchions to provide a secure feeling under way. The high center cockpit is comfortable and dry, but there is a large step down from the cockpit to the deck. The ground-tackle system is outstanding. Hefty bow rollers and a powerful windlass make it easy to set and raise the hook, and oversized polished stainless mooring cleats are strong, well placed, and aesthetically pleasing.
The comfortable Salon is very spacious and airy with lots of light and ventilation. There is a settee with dining table to port and another settee and table to starboard. The navigation station is aft in Salon to starboard and the Galley is aft to port. Forward companionway.
Galley:
The galley is located to the port and aft of the Salon along both sides of the companionway to the Master stateroom. Access to the engine room and generator are also provided.
Master Stateroom and Head:

Deck and Hull:
Quality abounds on the 48’ DS! When stepping aboard you can feel how solid and stable, she is."Enchante" was constructed with Vinylester resins, therefore she should never have an issue with blisters. Her hull is solid fiberglass from the bottom of the keel up to the waterline. Above the waterline, a core of PVC foam was added for stiffness and that continues to the deck joint. Her decks are non-skid and in very good condition. All deck hardware and equipment are top of the line.
Cockpit:
"Enchante" has a very large cockpit that was fitted with a custom hard dodger, a stainless-steel frame, 3/8" tempered glass, and a fiberglass top. For bluewater sailing, a fixed dodger is one of the best pieces of equipment one can have.
Navigation Station, Helm and Electronics:
The Tayana 48’ DS offers plenty for the captain and crew to provide safe passages worldwide. The Navigation station is to the starboard side aft of the salon with a U-Shaped desk and chair for the navigator. There is plenty of room for electronics and storage. The Helm in the Center Cockpit is fitted with an Edson steering pedestal that is home to a Raymarine Hybrid touch multi-function chart plotter, radar, Auto pilot, I 70 s display, bow thruster control and compass. There is also a folding table at the pedestal. The Raymarine electronics can be controlled from an iPad or Android device using the Raymarine app. A program is also available that allows the Raymarine electronics to function on the onboard PC at the nav station.

Electrical:
Tayana is known for their quality onboard electrical systems. All wiring is done with the upmost attention to detail. Installation of all components is done accurately and to code. There is an AC/DC electrical breaker panel located at the Navigation station along with the generator control panel.

"Enchante" is for sale by her second owner. The pride he takes in "Enchante" is apparent everywhere one looks on board. The bilges are clean, the wiring is neat, the interior finish looks nearly new, the exterior varnish is gorgeous, and systems are intelligently designed.
She is well rigged for short-handed sailing. Electric primary winches and an electric halyard winch - along with her Leisurefurl boom - make sail handling easy for a couple. Her bow thruster allows docking to be (almost) stress-free. The hard dodger and full cockpit canvas make her an all-weather cruiser. Call Greg for an appointment to see this wonderful vessel.
