Sleek and luxurious define the yachts built by this Spanish shipyard. The family-run company is now in its fourth generation and remains one of the premier European brands for custom and semi-custom luxury motor yachts. It has built some 3,000 boats in its existence—from 40-foot open boats to 120-foot yachts and 150-foot superyachts.
The origins of the brand began when brothers Jesús and José Astondoa Martínez started building rowing boats in Portugalete, Spain. In time, the brothers parted ways and Jesús, along with his son Jesús Astondoa Santamaría, continued to build high-quality wooden recreational boats, which gained popularity. As the brand grew over the decades and later generations joined the company, it evolved and moved away from its traditional wooden construction methods. During the 1980s, with developments in fiberglass, Astondoa began building yachts in polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass as well as steel-hulled superyachts.
Astondoa Yachts prides itself on delivering the highest standards of quality in every aspect of the build and as such undertakes all parts of the build process in its own shipyards. From the woodwork to mechanical installations, even upholstery, construction is completed at the company’s four production centers by more than 500 skilled craftspeople.
The company is plugged into innovation and development, remaining at the forefront of yachting design and technology. It has a specialized technology hub in Santa Pola, and is also an active member of national technology centers that aim to push the boundaries of maritime development. The results are groundbreaking features such as strong yet light hulls that are fast and fuel efficient.
The current lineup of Astondoa Yachts comprises 10 models across five ranges, beginning with the Ax8 model, an 80-foot luxury yacht that aims to create as much family living space as possible for its length. By offering features such as vast windows, exteriors that open to the sea, and a large flybridge, it creates a sense of space as well as a connection to the ocean environment. The design is fresh and contemporary, using glass, open spaces, and lighting to further add to the sense of spaciousness.
Astondoa’s new Coupe range has made a big move from its previous models, and offers three models which ooze sporty, modern vibes. The 677 Coupe—built to replace the 655, which celebrated the brand’s 100th year—is the largest of the three in the lineup, which also includes the 377 Coupe and 377 Coupe Outboard. With their iconic plumb bows, edgy styling, luxury finishes, and avant garde design, they are true head-turners. The 377 models are versatile weekend cruisers with clever use of deck spaces and cozy interior, while the 677 manages to include three cabins and en suite bathrooms (with an optional fourth cabin) across three spacious decks.
Offering totally different styling to the Coupe range is the 66 Flybridge, a sporty handsome yacht with a huge amount of customization options including settees, tables, and sun lounges. It has four staterooms, a large flybridge, and a classic interior design.
The As Range also focuses on family living and entertainment spaces on its two models, the As5 (17m) and As8 (25m), which are elegant and timeless yachts.
The largest yachts built by Astondoa fall in the Century Series, where the 100 Century and 110 Century are followed by the 125 Century, the brand’s largest yacht to date. These highly customizable models push the boundaries of design and innovation and include superyacht features such as a spacious flybridge, Sky Lounge, and tender garage.
With a long history of boatbuilding, Astondoa Yachts are widely available on the used market, with popular models including the 66 Flybridge, 39, 43, and 40 Open.
