Shoofly is a truly unique sloop designed and built in New Zealand by Tim Barnett where custom boat building techniques are recognized as the best in the world. Her custom rudder was designed by Carl Schumacher. Her performance is exceptional in all wind and sea conditions.
Her condition is excellent due to a 2019 refit which included a full repower with a Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel, new interior and repainting of her house and deck, and many other upgrades.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Shoofly's interior is painted bright white and trimmed with high glossed varnished kauri wood. Cabin sole is varnished teak and holly.
Starting forward, there is a crash bulkhead. Aft of this bulkhead is a large V-berth with varnished kauri trim and pine ceiling strips on port and starboard sides of the inner hull.
A storage locker is located to port and a small seat is built to starboard
Aft of the main bulkhead, in the salon, are port and starboard settees with storage behind the backrests. A fold down table is built in running forward to aft in the middle of the salon.
Aft of the settee on port is the galley with a double stainless steel sink, top access refrigeration, a separate freezer and a two burner propane stove with oven
To starboard aft of the settee is a navigation station with desk and seat which access the AC and DC electrical panels. GPS, communications, and data are displayed at this station.
Further aft to starboard is an enclosed head compartment with head, sink and shower. Aft of the head compartment is a large storage area.
Aft of the galley is a large master stateroom with full sized bunk, hanging locker and storage
A pass thru door from the aft stateroom to the head links the port with the starboard sides of the aft area of the boat.
HULL
Shoofly's hull has a Divinycell foam core with a full length 1/4 " Corten steel box frame along her centerline just above the keel. There are a pair of full length 1 1/2" x 3 1/2 " fiberglass bilge stringers. The mast and engine both are positioned on the steel frame. Bulkheads are composed of fiberglass over 1" Divincell core.
The hull laminate is E-glass and isophthalic resin. The hull and keel were faired and templated in 2010. All bottom paint was stripped and a new epoxy barrier coat was added then repainted in 2019. The elliptical spade rudder is an upgraded Carl Schumacher design that was built by Integrated Composites. Epoxy resin with fiberglass was used to envelope the foam core for the rudder. A composite lower rudder bearing was used.
