During the 1980’s and early 1990’s this diesel model Bayliner, the 3870, was very successful. Over 1000 of these boats were manufactured during that 10 year period. This model was known as an affordable and comfortable diesel cruiser with two staterooms, two heads and one shower/tub. Gemini is a 2 owner vessel. From 1987 until the end of 2022 this vessel was protected overhead in two different marinas in the Morehead City area. The second owners have owned Gemini for 24 years and have a diver go down and clean the bottom every month and replace zincs as needed. Gemini is ready to be enjoyed without any urgent renovations. You can relax and entertain on the bow cushion in front, the open deck in the transom, the spacious salon inside or up in the flybridge. The lights throughout inside or outside have been changed to LED.
Access points to board Gemini are via the swim platform and transom door or over the gunwale on either side of the back deck. You can see the steps in the photos. There is only one door onboard that goes into the salon from the back deck. To access the bow area one can walk on either the port or starboard side. There is a six step ladder in the back deck to access the Flybridge. The main helm is in the Flybridge with plenty of seating and good visibility.
As you go through the door you first see the wrap around table that can be lowered for more sleeping space. The inside helm is on the starboard side. The current owner removed the steering wheel inside as there was not adequate visibility to handle the boat safely. Then you take a couple steps down to access the galley on the starboard side. The photos show the layout.
The Master cabin is in the bow section and is quite spacious with good closets and storage. The Master cabin has its own bathroom and sink. In between the Master and smaller cabin on the port side is a tub/shower combo that has two doors and can be accessed from either cabin. The smaller cabin has a comfortable bed and storage. Both cabins can be closed.
Main Salon:
The main salon has 360 degree visibility. The owners usually adjust the curtains to keep the sun from overheating inside. The main salon table that seats 7 has a history of tasty meals, long discussions about the world and family matters and friends sharing their concerns. The wet bar, blender and ice maker are close by. There are a/c and heater controls in the main salon.
A Toshiba Color TV CD Movie Player sits on the wet bar.
Galley:
The galley is down 2 steps from the salon with a refrigerator, microwave and 3 burner stove and oven. There is good counter space for preparation and plenty of storage.
Master Stateroom:
The Master Stateroom is roomy with plenty of closet and storage space. The nice LED lighting is artfully done. There is a bathroom and sink that can only be accessed from inside the room. There are a/c and heater controls inside. The shower/bath tub can be accessed either thru a sliding door in the Master or the Guest room.
Guest Stateroom:
The Guest Stateroom is very comfortable with a closet and storage. The Guest Room has its own bathroom/sink with access to the shared shower/tub. This room as well as throughout the boat has nice LED lighting.
Deck:
The front deck area has a very comfortable sunning/reading mattress. There is also anchor locker that has a water filter and water softener system. There is a windlass with chain and anchor line with a bow pulpit and anchor.
The back deck has many features. There is a hot and cold shower system. There is access to the Flybridge and to the Salon, to the front deck and to the engine compartments.
There are 3 deck chairs in the back deck.
Electronics and Helm:
The Flybridge has comfortable seating and good visibility.
Some of the electronics are:
Electrical:
There are two 30 amp receptacles with a 50 amp Y plug.
All lights have been converted to LED inside and out.
Engine Details and Mechanical Equipment:
Hino EH700 diesel engines at 175 horsepower. Total hours are close to 1,500 hours. The original boat did not have hour meters on the engines. The second owner installed hour meters and the best guess is that there are 1,500 hours on both engines. The engines can be accessed by the following: drop down door in salon floor; 2 hatch doors in the back deck; door on left side of the cabin that also gives access to the batteries.
There is a 8.5 KW Westerbeke generator that cranks over but does not start. The owner recently had a couple of different mechanics look at the generator but they were unsuccessful in locating the issue.
Extra set of props.
Engine and generator hours are as of the date of the original listing and are a representation of what the listing broker is told by the owner and/or actual reading of the engine hour meters. The broker cannot guarantee the true hours. It is the responsibility of the purchaser and/or his agent to verify engine hours, warranties implied or otherwise and major overhauls as well as all other representations noted on the listing brochure.
