Carena 40 Steel Ketch
Price reduced to Euros 23,000 to purchase 'AS IS WHERE IS ASHORE NO NEGOTIATIONS'
This one owner private sailing yacht is offered at an incredible ‘bargain basement price’ with NO further negotiations!
It has been routinely used for local pleasure sailing by its first owner most seasons, and was afloat for the 2021 season.
The yacht’s Selling Price has just been reduced to less than half price to take account of the following;
The yacht received an agreed offer of Euros 45.000 recently (late Autumn 2021) and the transaction & ownership change was due to complete.
However the survey uncovered some corrosion to some of the steel hull plating and in one or two areas the surveyor declared remedial work should be carried out.NO SURVEY REPORT WAS WRITTEN UP ORAVALIABLE.
The owner sought advice in Holland from the original Dutch builder regarding the issue and responds as below;
“…We have had a meeting with the Dutch builder of our yacht,
>> There are two solutions to make her seaworthy again:
>> 1. Welding a double plate over the corroded one which will cost € 850,00 per square meter (Dutch price – likely lower in Greece/Med).
>> 2. Cut out the corroded plate and weld in a new plate, which will cost € 1700,00 per square meter (Dutch price - likely lower in Greece/Med)
>> We think the total price (in Holland) will be about €8500,00 or €17000,00 ,but we can’t see the exact numbers of square meters from here. It will be no more than ten square meter…”
In summary, this yacht, currently ashore in Lefkas Marina, is offered on an ‘AS-IS / WHERE-IS’ basis at the price stated.

The condition or level of safety equipment on board is not to be negotiated on following survey. It is likely to be listed by most surveyors but is not structural or an integral working part of the vessel and is not to be used to further negotiate the price down after survey. We strongly suggest that for your own personal safety that when purchasing a yacht you provide new safety equipment rather than relying on second hand gear.
Should you become the new owner of this yacht then the responsibility to re-register or update official bodies for items such as EPIRB, VHF, MMSI or AIS becomes yours.
