About Carver Boats
Carver Yachts was founded in 1954 by Charles Carter and George Verhagen, who combined the first three letters of their surnames to form the name Carver and the Carver Boat Company. From humble beginnings, the brand quickly grew to become one of the country’s most respected builders of mahogany runabouts. It expanded to build luxury midsize pilothouse boats and cabin cruisers and moved to a dedicated facility in Pulaski, Wisconsin, staffed by a skilled workforce.
In the 1990s, Carver Yachts was acquired by Genmar Holdings, which allowed the brand to expand beyond the Great Lakes region. By this point, Carver was well known for its luxury yachts of 40 to 50 feet in length, and in the 2000s launched the popular Voyager models of pilothouse boats. The Voyager 570 in particular rose to become one of the brand’s best-selling models. It further expanded the pilothouse range in 2003 with the Marquis series, which was well received in the industry for its luxury finish and strong build quality.
Model Ranges/Models of Carver Boats
At their time of closing, Carver Yachts was manufacturing six different models of yachts ranging from 32 feet to nearly 60 feet in length, with many custom options extending the choice further. Models included the C34 Coupe, C37 Coupe, and C52 Coupe, as well as the C36 Command Bridge, C40 Command Bridge, and the C52 Command Bridge.
All of Carver Yachts’ models were renowned for their well-designed interiors, with models such as the large C52 Coupe offering a full beam master suite, the latest performance innovations, and the brand’s signature emphasis on comfort.
Throughout its long production runs, Carver Yachts built many different models that still can be found on the used market. One of the largest series that it built was the 52 Voyager and 56 Voyager (and Voyager Pilothouses), all elegant and capable cruisers complete with expansive flybridge decks, swim platforms, and high spec interior finishes. Older series include the Mariner, European, Riviera, Aft Cabin and Super Sport, which are well represented on the used market and renowned for their strong build quality and exceptional comfort.
