1965 Cheoy Lee Offshore 27 Sloop. Excellent family pocket cruiser!
NOW ONLY $9,999.00!!!!
This classic blue-water full-keel sloop was built by the highly-respected Cheoy Lee Shipyards to the specifications of the yacht designer Taylor Newell. This model, like all Cheoy Lee models, is known for sailing well and for being very stable and comfortable. Considering her size, her accommodations are excellent, with a four-berth layout and adequate storage space. She is of moderately heavy displacement with firm bilges and low-placed ballast, all of which give her excellent stability characteristics for offshore voyaging. She sports a cutaway forefoot and keel-mounted rudder.
Considerable upgrades have been made to this 53-year-old boat, all of which were carefully chosen to enhance the spirit of the original design without detracting from the joy of sailing a boat meant for adventure and the pleasure of voyaging. She has her original Sitka spruce mast and boom, both in pristine condition. She has her original Edson wheel steering, upgraded with a new pedestal guard, pedestal controls and a Furuno radar display. The forward and main hatches, along with the companionway doors, are original to the boat and in excellent condition. She had been re-powered in the 1980's with a Universal M-18 engine, which is a real workhorse and has been well maintained. The electrical system, both AC, and DC, have been fully upgraded and a smart charger installed. New electronics have been added, along with a stereo in the main cabin. All batteries, house, and start, are new in 2018. The original chain locker was enclosed and a chain pipe added to the foredeck to enhance the anchor system. Four new bronze opening portlights have been added along with an after-deck mushroom vent for better ventilation throughout the boat.
This boat sleeps two in the comfortable forward cabin V-berths, and two on the settee berths in the main cabin; all berths have new foam and upholstered cushions. There are large stowage lockers under all the berths. The galley has a deep stainless sink, a new gimbaled Origo alcohol stove, original storage lockers, dish racks, and a generous cutlery drawer. The hanging locker has an opening portlight and a door that does double-duty by closing off the forward cabin. The dining table stows nicely above the port settee. The original head has been replaced with a Raritan PHII manual marine head, and a holding tank has been added. A custom-built radar mast supporting a Furuno radome and GPS has been added. A stern rail has been custom built and added to enhance after-deck functionality.
