Avanyu's onboard navigation and sensor electronics are viewed and controlled using a Garmin 7608 Chart plotter (mounted at the helm in a varnished teak box, new in 2018).
Networked Garmin sensors and devices communicate (NEMA 2000) with the chart plotter and other displays and computers (e.g., iPhone, iPad). Many sensors and devices are new in 2021, and include:
Wind, Depth, Temp/Speed, AIS (broadcast and receive), GPS, HD Radar, Heading and motion sensors, Satellite weather and radio, Autopilot.
In addition to the chart plotter, separate displays for wind, depth, and speed, as well as autopilot controls and displays, are mounted in the cockpit and below deck at the navigation table.
Screensharing is available on the 12" iPad Pro (2021) mounted at the navigation table below deck. The chart plotter can be observed and controlled in this manner. Chart plotter screensharing is also available on personal iPhones.
In addition to the chart plotter, the navigation table mounted 12" iPad Pro runs several (Garmin and non-Garmin) navigation apps (iNavX inavx.com), including Navionics charts. NEMA data (AIS, GPS, Wind, Speed & Depth) are broadcast on the Avanyu Wi-Fi network and displayed by iPad/iPhone navigation apps.
Avanyu is equipped with a long-range Wi-Fi extender antenna/router (Rouge Wave wavewifi.com/product/rogue-reach-db/) that provides wired internet connection using public hotspots, The wired network connection is then available as Avanyu Wi-Fi Network (using iNavHub digitalyacht.net). The iNavHub injects instrument NEMA data onto the Avanyu Wi-Fi network.
Entertainment (streaming TV and music) is provided by an AppleTV connected to a LG HD monitor with audio out to 2 Apple iPod Mini speakers mounted in the ship's cabin. Music (stored on iPad, streamed, or via XM radio) is provided to the cockpit using Bose speakers powered by a separate 400-watt amplifier.
These systems are very efficient and direct powered by the 12 Volt DC system (no inverter necessary to conserve amps).
