The Square Meter evolved from a Swedish Sailing Federation Committee to design a yacht racing class that developed very simple boats that were fast racing machines of the day. Over time the sailing committee created the Square Meter Rule: yachts were to be classed by their sail area which was fixed and the race class or the 30 square-meter was born and very popular in the 1920 and '30s. She is easily sailed single-handed for weekend sails or regattas and can be handled with minimal crew. The boat has a small cuddy cabin that can be used for short cruises and has a marine toilet.
