CROWTHER SHOCKWAVE (ALBATROS) 37

OWNER's words:

Keeping the spirit of Lock Crowther, this machine was built in 1986
from the molds of the model Shockwave Albatros 37.
The serial number is 26.
She was born in Formentera under the modifications and upgrades
from the architect and sculptor Hans Brinker. He added an original
rotating mast and two methacrylate cupules for the hulls.
Unfortunately, two years after her maiden voyage in the
Mediterranean, the owner passed away and his wife Dorothea,
inherited the catamaran.
The catamaran was sold three years after to a race sailor from the
Atlantic coast in Huelva.
Since 1991, she was used like a cruise boat in the Gulf of Cadiz and
the Algarve, because the lack of races for this boat in Andalusia at that
time.
In 2001, the boat was place in dry dock for a full restoration, paint and
new engines.
She was in use in Huelva and Portugal with no damages or accidents
up to 2015, the time for the full reconstruction with some parts from
the America´s cup boats sold in Valencia.
In 2015, the boat was completely dismantled, the whole hull and
beams had a complete fiberglass and epoxy treatment, the hull was
reinforced from the outside and from the inside and all the stainless
steel was replaced, new carbon fiber mast and boom, steering, rigging,
sails, electric system, WC, cabins, etc... The philosophy was to create
a full regatta catamaran, with a simple maneuver for solo sailing and
able for a weekend cruiser for a speed lovers.
If you like sail fast, if you love speedy multihulls stable and very
strong, if you want to be by yourself offshore safe and you don´t mind
run over 20 knots with spray, this is your boat.
If you love weekend cruises, stop you boat on the beach in low tide
without problem, and go diving by just engines at 10 knots but jump
easily to 14 knots with some wind and sleep with 4 friends on board
with a lot of space, this is your boat.

In every marina, people will try to check the inside and see the
performance, you can easily configure the boat for a regatta or for a
weekend cruiser or diving trip using the dinghy, fishing and use the
huge space on deck.
Build quality and materials used are superb, light and robust. Everyone
who understand the combination of kevlar, carbon fiber, aluminum
and fiber that we are talking about serious sailing machine here.
The conservation of the boat is very good due the weather in
Andalusia, no osmosis or humidity, just some scratches in the paint
due the use.
Regular service, high performance antifouling and maintenance is
mandatory in this ship, the presence of dyneema soft-shackles and
the details are always pointing the same point, performance.

Together with down below huge specs list, I made more improvements
this month:
New rigging in mast
Repainted antifouling
Paint maintenance and polishing
Engine maintenance
Improved engine room ventilation
New batteries for 12V system
New Electricity distribution box ventilation

very well equipped Marina.
