The first one was launched in 1958 to much acclaim and lived up to the expectations with some very successful race wins in her first season, leading to her being given the accolade of Yacht of The Year. Lowein asked Cheverton to design a cruiser racer that was fast, pretty, easily handled by two but could accommodate a larger crew. The success of the design was in many ways down to the large beam compared to most UK designs of the time, more in line with American designers like S&S who had realised the benefit of greater beam for increasing speed. Due to the huge success of the design, several more were built in the following years, including this boat which was launched from the yard of R&W Clark in East Cowes in 1960 for wealthy yachtsman Richard Carr. She was raced every weekend across the channel and gained a 2nd place in the Fastnet before being sold to make way for a larger yacht in 1972. The present owners have had the boat for over 20 years and have cruised extensively around the Channel and the North Sea with spells in Norway. She has always been a very safe, comfortable and fast cruising boat that has been regularly maintained and cared for in professional yards.
