DESCRIPTION

SHINDELA is the largest design by the late Ed Burnett, and arguably the one that most exhibits what his old friend, colleague and mentor Nigel Irens describes as 'fusion' - a mix between tradition and modern; not 'spirit of tradition' in our view - we prefer 'modern classic'. SHINDELA's moderate fin and skeg-hung rudder hull form and efficient, easily handled schooner rig make her a dream to sail and manoeuvre, all done with an easy motion and no fuss.

Tom Cunliffe on Ed Burnett from Shindela's Helm in the Aegean

"This boat is very special for me. She was designed by the late Ed Burnett; my very good friend. I knew Ed since he was a little boy, and I saw him grow up, go through college and become one of the great yacht designers of the world by designing traditional boats in the proper way. Sitting on this wonderful vessel, beating up to windward in this stiff breeze - just eating our way up there in complete comfort - is an absolute revelation. If I was on most of the yachts I go on these days, she'd be slamming away, throwing water all over the place. We're well heeled, but we're all sitting here comfy like we were in our arm chairs..."
