14’ clinker dinghy believed to have been built by Edgar Cove in Salcombe, possibly in the 1950’s or 1960’s.

It is possible this boat was built to the lines of the RNSA 14 as a number of these were built by Coves over the years.

14’ clinker dinghy believed to have been built by Edgar Cove in Salcombe, possibly in the 1950’s or 1960’s.

It is possible this boat was built to the lines of the RNSA 14 as a number of these were built by Coves over the years.

Bought by the late owner a few years ago and he started a thorough refit which included a new foredeck, some new ribs and a complete strip down and re-varnish inside and out.

The following work is required to finish the project:

Fix new thwarts

Complete new centreboard casing and fix centreboard winch

New rigging

Refit/replace boom

Fit bronze work on bow and deck fittings

Obtain new sails

Service trailer

The late owners family wish to find a good home for the boat where the work can be completed and she will be looked after. She is sitting on a sound road trailer but it will require a service and checking wheels and bearings.

Length 14’

Construction

Clinker planked in mahogany, all copper fastened to steam bent oak timbers.

Hull finished in 2 pack varnish.

Oak stem and new mahogany transom.

New foredeck fitted in Robbins marine plywood with a new varnished mahogany coaming.

Twin oak rubbing strakes top and bottom of the sheer strake.

New marine plywood centreboard case, not yet completed. Painted steel plate with a winch to raise it.

New aft thwarts in mahogany, not yet secured in place.

Rig

Bermudan sloop rig, fractionally rigged on a keel stepped varnished wooden mast.

Mast has been stripped and re-varnished but the boom is in poor cosmetic condition.

There are no sails or rigging with the boat.
