Wooden Ships Comments on this Norman Dallimore centreboard sloop
Designed by Norman Dallimore and built by Kings of Burnham in 1938, a combination that produced some exceptionally fine pre-war yachts of which this is no exception. The first owner had won a medal in the 1924 Olympic games on the Fife Emily, this little Dallimore was a retirement present to himself.
Designed as a comfortable day sailer but with accommodation for 2, the cockpit can comfortably accommodate 4 people while sailing without tripping over each other, while under sail she is a well balanced and nicely behaved yacht.
She has a fully documented history and was sold by Wooden Ships to the last 3 owners. The current owner has previously worked as a professional shipwright and has carried out a good deal of very good quality work in the last 2 years. This has included checking keel bolts, replacing fastenings, replacing cracked frames and repairing the mast, as well as the usual paint and varnish and full engine service.
Her looks make her stand out in any crowd, typical of many of Dallimore’s boats, and with good sailing performance and ease of handling, she is a boat that will appeal to many sailors. She is light enough to be towed on the road making her a versatile and potentially cheap to run classic yacht with all the pedigree and provenance anyone could wish for.
Now in very smart and sound condition, sailed regularly in the last 2 seasons.
