Wooden Ships Comments on this Salcombe River Launch Clinker motor launch built in Salcombe in the 1990's by Fred Bennet. She has been stored ashore under cover for several years and now needs a light refit before going back afloat. Hull appears to be in very good condition, worked required is mainly cosmetic. A very pretty and relatively recent launch, perfect for family trips on the river. Comes with a trailer. Length 13'6" Beam 5'1"     Construction Clinker planked in a type of pine, copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers Oak stem, keel and transom. Mahogany gunnells with a rope fender all round. Small aft and fore decks in laid iroko over a marine plywood subdeck. Bulkheads of marine plywood. Bronze fairleads and cleats on both decks. Varnished mahogany thwarts. Transom hung mahogany rudder with bronze hangings.     Machinery Stuart Turner single cylinder 1.5hp marine petrol engine installed new. Engine condition unknown as it has not been run for a while. Manual start. Bronze shaft to a 3 blade bronze propeller.
