She is a sister ship to Suhali, the Eric class yacht sailed around the world by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, which tells us everything we need to know about her capability and pedigree. In 2015 she had a very thorough professional refit which included a new engine, new running and standing rigging, new masts and many other jobs. Since that time she has been used extensively but in recent years has been a little neglected due to ill health. Her main issue is the deck which needs replacing. The hull is built from excellent timber and appears to be sound as far as can be seen. The engine was new in 2015 and has been used very little. Although looking a little tired at present this boat has excellent pedigree and is well worth the time and effort of refitting her, she will make an excellent blue water cruising boat with the ability to go anywhere in the world. Length on deck 32’ Length Overall 40’9” Length Waterline 27’6” Beam 11’ Draft 5’ Construction Planked in 1.25” Chengai, a very durable tropical hardwood, fastened with copper rivets to Chengai steam bent ribs of 2.25” x 1.25”. Wooden floors across the centreline, type of timber unknown. External iron ballast keel of 2.2 tons fastened with stainless steel bolts. The inside of the hull is lined with a ceiling restricting access to many of the frames. Solid straight laid Chengai deck in very poor condition. The deck was caulked and payed but has now dried and shrunk considerably with numerous leaks. It is likely the deck will need replacing. A low toe rail all round with stainless steel stanchions and guard wires. Coachroof with solid timber coamings finished in paint with bronze portholes. Straight laid coachroof deck. Self draining cockpit, recently rebuilt in marine plywood. Tiller steering with rudder hung on the stern post in usual Colin Archer fashion. Rig Bermudan ketch rig on a keel stepped main mast and deck stepped mizzen mast. Masts are hollow box section wooden construction, both new in 2015. Wooden booms for mainsail, mizzen and staysail. Stainless steel standing rigging, new in 2015, to external stainless chain plates, all in good order. Jib sets on a Wickham Martin furler at the end of the bowsprit. Staysail hanks to the forestay and sets with a staysail boom for simple handling. Pair of Barlow top action non self tailing cockpit sheet winches. Pair of mast halyard winches. Running rigging all replaced in 2015. Sails include mizzen, main, staysail and 2 x jibs, one new in 2017. Numerous old sails with the boat. Machinery Beta Marine 43hp 4cyl diesel installed new in 2015. Stainless shaft to a centreline 3 blade bronze propeller. Starboard side midships is the aft facing chart table and 2 large top loading lockers, plus storage lockers under the side deck. Port side is a U-shaped settee with an insert to create a double berth when required. Forward on the starboard side is the heads compartment with a Baby Blake sea toilet that discharges directly overboard and stainless hand basin.
