The rig has a high boom, a self-tacking jib, and is a tall fractional rig. According to the sailplan, the spreaders are swept 21 degrees, and the stay runs from a chainplate on the 33-degree line almost exactly halfway up the middle mast panel. This hold would prevent the boom from spreading very far. Instead of running backstays, this stay may be more of an intermediate backstay designed to support the staysail hounds.
