Owners Comments

FREEDOM OF HAMBLE has been continuously updated and upgraded to ensure ease of operation and comfort when sailed short handed.

All sail adjustment, including setting, reefing and dropping of sails, can be safely conducted from the cockpit with no requirement for crew to be on deck in inclement weather.  Sailing is easily a single handed pleasure with all sail controls, engine controls, communications and navigational information at the helmsman's hand, even to the extent of enjoying goose-winged downwind sailing with the camber spar ensuring a self vanging jib deployment.  She has shown herself to be no slouch as a passage maker or round the cans club racer as her First in Class in the 2012 Round the Island Race has demonstrated.  At anchor or in harbour the cockpit tent is extremely easily rigged by one person.  This tent has shown itself to be robust enough to withstand even gale force winds and driving rain.  It rolls into a compact sausage that stows unobtrusively above the bunk in the fore cabin when not required.

The overall impression is one of silent progress when sailing where the absence of noise from thrumming, highly stressed rigging, lack of slamming in head seas  and water noises, hushed by the balsa core construction, are quite noticeable.  FREEDOM is a very weatherly boat with an easy motion in a seaway and very dry on deck.  At rest the same absence of wind noise in rigging brings a quite uncanny peace and tranquillity life below decks.
