Spey 35 MkII Bermudan Sloop, Designer: G.L. Watson, Builder: Jones Buckie Shipyard, Year: 1966, Location Hants, Length on deck: 35', Beam: 11'5", Draft: 5', Tonnage(TM): 15TM, £27,500, REF: 10844, Full Specification, Wooden Ships Comments, Designed by G.L. Watson and built by the Buckie Jones Shipyard who have existed for many years building fishing and commercial vessels. The Spey was inspired by the Scottish fishing vessels and took all the fine attributes of those proven work boats in order to produce a pleasure yacht that would be safe and comfortable at sea, incredibly strong and would provide very spacious comfortable accommodation for her crew. Two designs were drawn, the 35′ and the 40′. This is the second evolution of the 35′ yacht, known as the MkII which had a raised foredeck rather than a coach roof forward in order to give more space below. The construction is typical of the Scottish yards with large scantlings and sections giving a heavy displacement and very strong boat. She has voyaged far and wide over the years and proven herself to be a very comfortable long term live aboard cruising yacht as well as an accomplished sea boat. Construction, Larch planking on sawn oak frames and wood floors. Iron fastened. Long iron keel. Solid iroko deck. Mahogany superstructure. Rig, Bermudan Sloop, Aluminium spars. SS rigging wire, 2002. Headsail Furlex system 2014. Sails: Fully battened mainsail, furling jib. Machinery, Gardner 4LK 48hp. 1966. 3 blade prop. Batteries: 4 x domestic, 2 x start. 1.5kw inverter. Shore power. Bilge pump: engine driven and 1 manual. Tanks: Fuel x 50 gals in steel tank. Water x 100 gals in steel tank. Holding tank, Accommodation, Headroom 6’3”. 5 berths. Fore and aft cabins with twin single berths. Deck saloon with settees port & stbd. Galley: Taylor 2 burner, grill & oven gas cooker. Fridge. SS sink & drainer. Heads compartment and wash basin. Pressure hot & cold water. Webasto diesel heating.
