This beautiful Harrison Butler 30 was built in Whisstocks of Woodbridge in 1938/39. Her graceful curved raked bow and counter canoe stern turn heads wherever she goes. "Rose of Arden" has been well maintained by her current owner of 24 years and is in full commission.
Viewing by appointment only through our Suffolk Office.
The accommodation offers up to four berths in a traditional layout. Standing headroom in the companionway, which then reduces as you move forward.
Up forward in the forepeak, there are two pipecot berths either side of the Baby Blake marine toilet, which is forward and centered. Access to the chain locker is available. Moving aft into the saloon, there are two single settee berths with trotter boxes, either side of a fixed double drop leaf table. There is plenty of storage around the saloon.
In the starboard quarter, there is the chart table with instruments and the control panel. A handy hanging locker is located next to it. Opposite to port is the L-shaped galley with a Plastimo 2 burner gas hob with oven and grill. Single stainless steel sink with a manually pumped cold water supply.
Force 10 paraffin cabin heater. Red upholstery. Opening port holes.
Located abaft the companionway is the offset Perkins Perama 25, 25hp three-cylinder marine diesel engine (1991). Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive to three-bladed propeller. Single lever controls with electric start. Approximately 100 litre fuel tank. The engine is annually serviced and has been relatively lightly used.
Fractional rigged Bermudan cutter. Keel-stepped Spruce mast and boom. Galvanised standing rigging. Terylene running rigging. Running backstays with Highfield levers. Slab reefing mainsail. Headsail furling systems. Two sheet winches. Two halyard winches.
Rose of Arden was designed by Harrison Butler and built in 1938 by Whisstocks of Woodbridge of Carvel construction with pitch pine planking, copper fastened to steam-bent oak frames. Straight-laid teak deck planking on plywood sub-decks. Varnished teak coach roof coamings and grabrails with sheathed top. Long keel with a cast iron ballast keel. Tiller steering to keel hung rudder.
