Boat Overview

Persephone is a Hunter Legend 36 designed by Glen Henderson and built by Hunter Marine. She is a popular yacht known for her comfortable and spacious design. She is unashamedly a family cruiser that has all the creature comforts both above and below decks.

The voluminous cockpit makes her ideal for summer socialising. Then, for the cooler late summer evenings, the beamy, bright, and airy main saloon with Webasto Diesel Heating makes a cosy place for evening drinks.

As you would expect, as a family cruiser, she is rigged for shorthanded sailing with two-speed Lewmar 40ST genoa winches by the helm. She is primarily driven by her powerful main, making her perform well on reaches and in light airs. The mainsheet traveller and control is on the Arch and therefore within easy reach from the helm. Plus, all other control lines, kicker, topping lift, etc. are led aft to the cockpit.

On deck, her layout is straightforward and easy to work, and despite the size of her main, handling doesn’t require a tame gorilla every time you want to tack.

When tested in 2014, Yachting Monthly reported:

                   ‘In all, she is a competent sailing yacht, easily handled and fun to sail.’

This is an excellent 2-owner cruiser that has been well maintained and is well equipped. A recent complete engine overhaul/rebuild including sail drive and new Featherstream Folding Propeller. However, the owner reports that this vessel is in need of some attention to the mast support and as a result is willing to entertain any sensible offer.
