The current range of HCB Yachts (formerly Hydra-Sports Boats) consists of five customizable models ranging between 39 and 65 feet in length. The smallest of the range is the Speciale, a family-friendly center console yacht that offers a spacious aft layout and rear-facing lounge seat, three helm seats with panoramic views, and triple 300 Yamaha, triple 300 or 400 Mercury, or twin 600 Mercury outboards. Yet the fishability of the Speciale is outstanding too, with a 30-gallon livewell capacity and dedicated tackle station among many features.
The same combination of elegance and functionality go into the entire range. There’s the 42-foot Lujo with its quadruple 425 Yamaha or 450 Mercury outboards, its triple helm seats, and 614 gallon fuel capacity; the 47-foot Campeon with its state-of-the-art digital systems screen and integrated entertainment features, elegant cabin, galley, and head, and sophisticated hull design for high performance.
At the top end of the range are the large 52-foot Sueños and the whopping 65-foot Estrella. The Sueños offers an air-conditioned luxury cabin with queen-sized berth, as well as a dual purpose bow area that can be converted from a table and seating to a large sun pad. It has enormous power in the form of quintuple 450 Mercury, quadruple 600 Mercury, or quadruple 425 Yamaha outboards. Lastly, the Estrella takes things to a different level and is the largest center console on the market. It too combines the comfort and functionality of any sportfishing boat with the comfort and luxury of a cruising yacht. We’re talking a huge cockpit, incredibly spacious cabin, and a 1,730 gallon fuel capacity for long range.
Looking into previous models of Hydra-Sports Boats, there are many models to choose from on the used market including the popular Vector, Siesta, and Seahorse ranges.
After 40 years in the industry, in 2018 Hydra Sports changed their brand name to HCB Center Console Yachts; of course, it’s still common to see the original name listed for used boats for sale. The re-branding was much more than a name change, however, and signaled an enormous shift in the type of boats being manufactured. Hydra-Sports boats built before the rebranding are compact and mid-sized fishing center consoles, offering value for money vessels with a good range of fishing accessories, bimini tops, and single outboard engines.
Fast forward to the new era for HCB Yachts, and the company is now building large semi-custom offshore fishing machines that easily fall within the luxury yacht sector. The lineup may be scaled down now in terms of numbers—five customizable models ranging between 39 and 65 feet—but they are scaled up in size and look very different than their predecessors. What hasn’t changed however, is the brand’s dedication to customer service.
Over its long history, Hydra-Sports Boats has achieved some major accomplishments, including being the first center console to win offshore tournaments against the usual inboard sportfishing models. They are also renowned for using Kevlar-infused hulls to give excellent performance and strength. They’ve used these years of experience to create a brand new range of luxurious sportfishing yachts that are making big waves in the industry.
The brand’s new vision focuses on what they call the “Crucero Experience” with crucero meaning cruise or journey. This customer-based approach incorporates the entire boat-buying and boat-owning experience, offering discerning customers the experience you would expect when buying a yacht, with the performance, functionality, and outboard power of a top-of-the-line sportfishing boat.
What are the best Hydra Sports boats?
The best Hydra-Sports boat depends on the budget, size, and function you need it to perform. From used models such as the high-performing but no-fuss compact Vector range of center consoles, all the way up to the luxury 40-foot Siesta range, and the new brand new 65-foot Estrella sportfishing yacht, the level of luxury and performance will dictate which is best for you.
Why are Hydra Sports boats popular?
With a range of large, luxury, semi-custom, and ultra-fast center console models designed for serious offshore fishing, Hydra Sports boats are hugely popular options for anglers looking for a luxurious and highly capable boat. They’re packed with equipment such as top of the range livewells, insulated fish boxes, and rod holders, and they offer impressive power and a sleek silhouette creating a head-turning and high-performing center console fishing sports boat.
