At the top end of the range are the large 52-foot Sueños and the whopping 65-foot Estrella. The Sueños offers an air-conditioned luxury cabin with queen-sized berth, as well as a dual purpose bow area that can be converted from a table and seating to a large sun pad. It has enormous power in the form of quintuple 450 Mercury, quadruple 600 Mercury, or quadruple 425 Yamaha outboards. Lastly, the Estrella takes things to a different level and is the largest center console on the market. It too combines the comfort and functionality of any sportfishing boat with the comfort and luxury of a cruising yacht. We’re talking a huge cockpit, incredibly spacious cabin, and a 1,730 gallon fuel capacity for long range.

After 40 years in the industry, in 2018 Hydra Sports changed their brand name to HCB Center Console Yachts; of course, it’s still common to see the original name listed for used boats for sale. The re-branding was much more than a name change, however, and signaled an enormous shift in the type of boats being manufactured. Hydra-Sports boats built before the rebranding are compact and mid-sized fishing center consoles, offering value for money vessels with a good range of fishing accessories, bimini tops, and single outboard engines.

The lineup may be scaled down now in terms of numbers—five customizable models ranging between 39 and 65 feet—but they are scaled up in size and look very different than their predecessors. What hasn’t changed however, is the brand’s dedication to customer service. 

Over its long history, Hydra-Sports Boats has achieved some major accomplishments, including being the first center console to win offshore tournaments against the usual inboard sportfishing models. They are also renowned for using Kevlar-infused hulls to give excellent performance and strength. The brand’s new vision focuses on what they call the “Crucero Experience” with crucero meaning cruise or journey.
