By emptying the ballast tank, the IMEXUS 28 transforms from a family-friendly, fast sailing yacht to a fast motorboat in less than five minutes and with just a few steps. Depending on the engine, the IMEXUS 28 can reach up to 29 knots. There is plenty of power, so you can even water-ski or wakeboard with the IMEXUS 28.
The boat is constructed in GPR architecture. it has two skin rudders and a plastic sword with a mass of 55 kg. The hull and deck are built with the manual method. The body beyond the waterline has been built in double-shell architecture; above the waterline is manufactured in massive laminate architecture. The hull is stiffened with laminated bulkheads out of plywood on GPR devices. The deck is a built-in sandwich design. Additional stiffening is achieved through the built-in-water tanks.
All fittings and hatches are made of stainless, seawater resistant materials. These are connected with the GRP deck and carefully sealed. At strong points, where higher forces are entered, the deck is additionally strengthened with seawater resistant aluminium stiffeners with are laminated into the deck. The deck is equipped with a bow and stern basket manufactured of stainless steel pipes. Between these two baskets, there is a sea railing with a constant high of 500mm.
To avoid drifting in sailing conditions, the keel can be downed. You can operate the lifting keel via a line; which goes from the mast to the cockpit. The draught of the lifting keel is 1.45 m; be careful you should never run aground. We were advised by the manufacturer’s agent to fully lower the keel when sailing and to lower it partially or fully to avoid drifting when motoring.
The functionality of the lifting keel and the retrieval equipment must be checked once a year by the specialised shop, and the ropes have to be renewed if necessary.
Accommodation : In the cockpit, there is enough space for six people. For easy handling, the IMEXUS 28 redirects all halyards, downhauls and uphauls, the mast laying system and the operation of the keel to the cockpit, so that single-handed sailoring is easy.
The yacht is also equipped with side walkways and a guard rails to facilitate access on deck.
A deck height of 1.85 m makes standing upright possible. Elegant light oak wood and many large windows create a bright and homely ambience below the deck.
The permanent king-size berth at the stern offers amazing space for a boat of this size.
The bow is also equipped with two large berths with a length of 2 m. If desired, the lying surface can be extended and two additional berths can be added sideways.
