Sturdy ex police launch, ideal also for passenger use.
Built by Toughs of Teddington in 1964 for the Port of London Authority police and used mainly as a reserve boat at Molesey and also at the Oxford and Cambridge boat race in London. Like all the police launches she is robust with a Perkins 100 hp engine which was rebuilt in 2015 when the boat was refurbished by Eel Pie Island following a PLA survey in May 2015. In 2016 the boat came up river to Windsor and had various modifications in order to get a BSS certificate. This is valid until May 2020. The GRP hull is now painted burgundy and there is a folding hood in matching burgundy canvas. The internal furnishings are in the same canvas as the hood. She is now fitted out as a passenger launch for 12 with seating for the skipper and crew in the bow compartment. The boat is equipped with VHF and a radar reflector as a result of her use on the Tideway. She is eminently suitable for use in any harbour, even tidal, in the UK with good towing capacity as well as decent seating for passengers. The varnished rubbing strakes and trim make the boat look extremely smart.
During the refurbishment the following work was carried out :
All stainless steel bolts were removed and replaced.
The propellor and shaft were removed and restored
Engine removed, serviced and repainted
New batteries installed
All electric cabling replaced, new lights and horn fitted.
Fire extinguishers serviced
Fuel tank cleaned
5 coats of Epiphanes varnish applied to all wood
Hull rubbed down and primed. Undercoat and top coat applied in burgundy. Antifouling new.
Ropes and boat hook replaced.
Non slip flooring replaced in the passenger area, hard wearing carpet in the cuddy.
