Walk-Thru

When approaching "Kewaydin," you will find a well cared for yacht, with her freshly refinished exterior teak and new canvas making her stand out in the crowd of other boats in the marina. For those unfamiliar with the Island Packet 40, as you step aboard you will note the custom double stainless steel railing from the boarding gates aft adding extra security. The life lines forward of the gates have been replaced with Dyneema life lines. Going forward, there are wide, clear side decks with raised bulwarks that increase in height as you move forward. The anchor platform has two rollers and a horizontal electric windlass. The coach roof has 6 opening hatches and 4 dorado vents and 12 opening stainless steel ports. Back in the cockpit, which is quite large with 8' seating on both port and starboard and a dedicated, raised helm seat. The pedestal contains a rack & pinion steering system and a stainless steel destroyer wheel with a teak folding cockpit table. The instruments are bulkhead mounted with the autopilot controls mounted in the port side combing by the helm.

Going below, you are greeted by a large open salon/galley. The galley is directly to starboard of the companionway ladder. The galley is large and C-shaped with plenty of counter top work space and storage. Cooking is provided by a three burner stainless steel stove and oven and a divided refrigerator/freezer with spill over fan.

Just forward of the galley is an aft facing nav station. This area contains an opening chart table, breaker panels for both 12v. and 120v. as well as wind generator, solar panel controls, VHF, link 20, and stereo.

To port of the companionway is access to both the day use head and the aft cabin. The head has dual access with a door to the salon as well as one to the aft cabin for private access. The head contains a marine toilet with a fold down teak seat, a stainless steel sink with cabinets for storage both above and below, bulkhead mounted adjustable shower, and a full length mirror. The aft cabin has a large double berth and a wardrobe containing a large cedar lined hanging locker and doored storage.

Back to the salon. This is a very open, bright, and airy cabin with the table folded up against the bulkhead clearing the area for lounging about or just entertaining when at anchor. To port is a straight line settee and on the starboard side is an L-shaped settee that pulls out to become a 3rd double berth. There is plenty of storage beneath and behind both settees as well as smaller storage cabinets above/behind the settee backs. When the table is dropped, there is storage behind it and with the table fully opened you can seat people from both settees.

Going forward is the owner's stateroom. This is a large cabin with a pullman berth to starboard with lots of drawer storage beneath and to port is a large wardrobe with cedar lined hanging locker and plenty of doored storage compartments. Then forward of this cabin is a very comfortable private head. To port is a flush mounted stainless steel sink set into a semi-wrap around countertop with storage both above and beneath. A marine toilet is centrally located with a fixed teak shower seat with an adjustable bulkhead shower head.

Engine room access is provided by two hinged doors and a lift off panel beneath the companionway steps.
