The TRIOMPHE is a 1999 model J/42 that features both a carbon rig and a shoal draft keel. The J/42 was first introduced for that same model year by J Boats and was offered by the manufacturer, Tillotson Pearson of Rhode Island through 2007. Also designed by Rod Johnstone, the J/42 was modeled after her very successful J/40 predecessor & featured an extended transom to house a large lazarette locker as well as other minor changes to the rig, underbody and accommodations.
The TRIOMPHE is properly-configured to accomplish the performance cruising or racer-cruiser missions .. whichever is preferred at the time! Featuring this versatility as well as good sea-keeping abilities & this outstanding performance, the J/42's PHRF Rating of "72" (New England Base Rating) for this specific configuration (with a carbon rig & shoal draft keel) equates to F-A-S-T. That's no surprise to those in the sailing community as it's just yet another feature that made Rod Johnstone's "J's" one of the most enduring and successful sailboat marques "ever".
As her Owner's business plans and time availability dictated, the TRIOMPHE has been lightly-used for Family day-sailing & light cruising over the years. On the hard and rig out, she's easy to inspect. Aggressively priced for such examples of the larger racer / cruiser J Boat market in general. the TRIOMPHE offers a good value for a most popular Manufacturer's very successful J/42.
The TRIOMPHE is currently located at her Winter Storage facility in Milford, CT.
