Manufacturer Provided Description

The Laser Stratos Keel is a versatile dinghy that provides race performance with room and security for family and friends. The inherent design stability of the Stratos hull not only makes sailing fun and relaxing but means that she can be left on moorings unattended. And the 100kg lifting keel adds stacks of stability to an already stable hull form. When raised, the keel adds only 15cm to the draft so launching and recovery are straightforward. Raising and lowering the keel is simplicity itself thanks to the multi-purchase hoist system operated from the centre of the cockpit. The gennaker, with its single line 'easylaunch' system, is simple to operate and adds fun to daysailing. The Stratos Keel inspires many of those who previously never considered themselves to be 'dinghy sailors' - or who felt that they were no longer agile enough to enjoy the thrill and performance of modern small boat sailing. The Combi-tec Mylar mainsail incorporates a full-length top batten and shorter battens further down the sail. Latest sail materials benefit from full-length batten control but a fully battened sail is hard to de-power and presents problems ashore. The Laser Combi-tec systems offers the best of both worlds and can even be reefed for high winds and beginners. A furling jib is standard which means that Laser Stratos can be de-powered in under 10 seconds. The lightweight robust launching trolley is perfectly balanced and the boat floats free in seconds. Recovery is just as simple and the separate road base for towing means that those precious wheel bearings never get wet. Stratos is hand built in high quality fibreglass. It's robust, great looking and requires virtually no maintenance. Getting ready to sail is easy too. From the moment the Stratos arrives in towing mode, to the moment it sets sail is estimated at 30 minutes. If Stratos is kept at a sailing club with the mast up, sailors could be sailing within 10 minutes of arriving at the club.

Technical Information

The Laser Stratos is handbuilt in fibreglass. It's robust, great looking and requires virtually no maintenance. The unique Sailsafe system allows water into a standalone side tank area in the event of a capsize. It ensures that the Stratos floats at just the right level to enable getting onto the centreboard. It drains rapidly once righted. Maxaerofoil rudder provides light and precise steering giving direct instant feedback to the helm.

Sails/Rig

Reefing mainsail, furling jib, gennaker with single line hoist/drop system. Combi-tec mainsail with unique laser reef system. Latest Mylar materials with full-length top batten for perfect sail shape. The mainsheet hoop ensures that the mainsheet is kept high and out of the way of crew. It also provides a useful secure handhold for moving around the cockpit area. Single line gennaker hoist and gennaker pole launch. A system developed for the Grand Prix racing Lasers.

Towing/Launching

The Laser Stratos has its own custom combination trailer and can be easily towed behind family cars. The lightweight robust trolley is perfectly balanced for an easy launch.
