Yacht for sale. With a heavy heart, is our stunningly gorgeous Laurent Giles 60 aluminium ketch built in 1984 at the renowned Picchiotti yard in Italy. We purchased her in early 2018 but having come from motor boats we have sadly discovered she doesn’t quite suit our needs or experience level. She is an awesome yacht, we’ve already seen 9 kts under sail and with her length she handles the sea with ease.
She is an ocean capable boat from the pen of famous designer Jack Laurent-Giles. If you buy her be prepared to chat with people wherever you go as she turns heads and people want to know about her. She was built as 55’ “Kispa” with 5’ added a few years later to accommodate davits and a gas locker. Details confirmed with the Laurent Giles archive.
Obviously she is an older boat with some tlc required but she is ready to go to sea tomorrow and an opportunity to acquire a stunning classic at a great price. Her hull was surveyed with ultrasonic meter in January and found to be in “very good” condition with no deterioration of the aluminium. Aluminium boats are incredibly strong and light and as long as care is taken with dissimilar metals do not corrode. Her anodes are in good condition and she has an isolation transformer to prevent damage from stray shore power currents as well as a galvanic isolator.
Her engine is a Mercedes OM352 which started on the button in freezing conditions of the Baltic in March and powered her 700 miles home without missing a beat. It is the unit used in unimogs, a true reliable workhorse.
Her heating system, although providing some heat, is a work in progress to be completed however the new owner desires.
As with any older boat she will always require bits and pieces but she looks amazing and is ready to put to sea with a new owner. (All pictures under sail from June this year) She is a beauty and awesome to sail but sadly a little big for our kind of sailing and experience level which gives someone the opportunity to acquire a magnificent yacht that will attract admiration wherever she comes into port.
Reasonable offers considered.
Below sales details from a previous advert with details edited to how she is now as much as possible but buyer should confirm any important details in case I’ve missed anything.
