When the company was first founded back in 2002, its first two models were the 1900 Nautic Bay center console and the 200 Sport Deck boat. Fast forward five years, and it had almost 20 models in its line-up, adding larger deck, bay, and center console models, as well as launching the offshore range. By 2018, after MascterCraft acquired it, it had increased that to 30 models, a large number by any brand's standards. It included the earlier models of the Legacy range of all-purpose fishing, cruising, and watersports boats still in production today.
Today's line-up certainly has a resemblance to past years, and features the Legacy, Offshore, Hybrid, Bay, and Deck ranges.
The Offshore range of center consoles are also tournament-level, and offer impressive fishability, speed, comfort, and a whole suite of amenities and storage. The five models range from 21- to 32-feet in length and can be customized to suit even the most serious of anglers.
The Legacy center console range brings a more multi-purpose fishing, cruising, and watersports option to the line-up, with three models—the 212, 252, and 292—built with a more pronounced bow flare for improved comfort and ride making it ideal for families. While the needs of serious anglers are met, and the Legacy range is undoubtedly high-performance, there are added comforts and features aimed at cruising and social use.
Aimed even further at those in search of fun and comfort is the Deck Boat range, one of the brand's most popular ranges. The current line-up, which runs from 19 to 24 feet, are can-do, versatile boats that are ideal for watersports, swimming, and cruising on the lake. Lastly, the Hybrid Range of center console boats are designed for use on both the bays and open water. They are multifunctional yet high-performance, family-friendly runabouts, ideal for navigating shallow waters and fishing.
While the current line-up of new NauticStar Boats is impressively large, there is an even larger number of previous models to be found on the used market. The latest models have built on the successes of previous ranges, and they offer good value for money when buying used.
NauticStar is one of the largest U.S. builders of performance fishing boats, family-friendly deck boats, and durable bay boats with an enormous range of models including hybrid boats and offshore center consoles. The company was founded in 2002 in Amory, Mississippi as a privately owned and operated company. It quickly went from its original two models in its first year of production, to offering over 30 models, a testament to the brand's popularity.
In 2017, NauticStar was acquired by MasterCraft Boat Holdings, a company which has been in operation since 1968 and is renowned for its hugely successful ski and surf boats. Throughout the years under MasterCraft, NauticStar continued to produce a line-up of well-regarded and broad-ranging models until it was announced that production would be ceasing in 2022.
A few weeks after the announcement, Iconic Marine Group (IMG), owner of both Fountain Powerboats and Donzi Marine, acquired NauticStar. While IMG runs all of its other brands out of North Carolina, NauticStar remained in its 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Mississippi.
NauticStar has always remained true to its vision, and today builds some of the most highly regarded deck boats, bay boats, offshore fishing boats, and hybrid boats in the 18- to 32-feet range.
What are the best NauticStar boat models?
NauticStar offers five ranges of models, the Legacy, Offshore, Hybrid, Bay, and Deck ranges. Choosing the best one depends on how you want to use the boat, whether that's serious angling (Offshore and Legacy ranges), lake cruising (Bay and Deck ranges), or a bit of both (Hybrid range). There is significant cross-over between the ranges, allowing owners to select the best one that suits all their multi-functional needs.
Why are NauticStar boats popular?
NauticStar have produced some of the best-selling center console fishing, deck, and bay boats in the United States since they were founded in 2002. They are highly regarded for their high-performance, tournament-level fishing boats, both bay and offshore, as well as being multi-functioning cruising, day, and family boats too.
