BROKER’S REMARKS:

I have been onboard the vessel in February 2016. I have current pictures.

MARGAUX is maintained by an experienced Swan captain. During the past years the yacht has been in private use and for charter based at Mallorca.

The legendary Swan 65 is one of the best known designs by Sparkman & Stephens. Known for their superior hull strength, control in any sea state, sea kindly sailing characteristics, and fine turns of speed, the Swan 65 is a timeless classic.

Originally built as ANNA OF THE SEA, later as XARGO III, this vessel competed in the Whitbread Round the World Race 1981-2 and placed 6th. Other Swan 65’s had competed in two earlier Whitbread Races with great success, including winning the first race and a second place in the second race.

In more recent years the Swan 65 has become renowned as a fast and most comfortable cruising yacht. They are equally suitable for private, family use or for charter. Yet, they may still be raced with great enjoyment and some success, particularly at such events as The Nioulargue, Antigua Race Week and the Swan Regattas.

Since her success in the Whitbread Race, the yacht has changed hands a number of times. Each owner has maintained and updated her, including a refit in England 1990, and further refurbishing in 1993.

Following the sale by me (Simon Turner) in 2002 to the former British owner “Nittan II” received an extensive refit Silvers Marine, on the Clyde River in Scotland, in Scotland, in the hands of expert Shipwrights.

In 2008 she received further updates including fresh hull paint done in the south of France.

After sale to current ownership the yacht had a Total refit 2011/12 in Germany. This owner spent more than 500.000 Euros for new teak deck, new electrics, new lighting system, new plumbing, new toilets, overhauled air-conditioning, engine was taken out and checked, refitted generator, new dish washer, new washing machine, new dinghy etc.

ACCOMMODATION and VESSEL WALKTHROUGH:
The interior offers a fine example of Nautor Swan’s fastidious workmanship.
Starting forward, the focsle is fitted with a V-berth (stowage under), and lockers. It is primarily used as crew quarters, and also incorporates the clothes washer-dryer. There is a VHF handset, and the handset for the windlass control fitted here. Bowthruster unit under bed
Next aft are 2 mirror image guest cabins with forward facing upper and lower bunks. Upper bunks in each cabin are convertible to double beds.  Each cabin has a fold down desk, a ladder to the deck, deck prism and an overhead hatch.
Each guest cabin has its own ensuite head, with sink, shower, and electric head.
Next aft is the large and comfortable main saloon with a U-shaped settee surrounding the large teak dining table to port and a straight settee opposite and to starboard.
Forward to starboard is a Waeco wine fridge.
The Alcantara covered soft furnishings were new. Over-head linings have also been renewed and low voltage Xenon lighting installed throughout all the accommodations.
The saloon has been modified from original – the settees have been moved outboard and pilot berths removed. During her recent refit the salon has been equipped with a Toshiba 37 inch plasma TV (on forward bulkhead) and Sony surround sound system. On the aft bulkhead is displayed her 6th place Whitbread Round the World plaque.
Worthy of note is the full width, “keyhole” bulkhead between the saloon and chart area / galley – this helps to provide the additional rigidity of hull structure that Swan’s have become world renowned for.
The galley is U shaped and to port – she has the open style galley and her work surface tops are black. It is equipped with a Force 10, 4 burner, stove facing outboard, double stainless sinks aft, and top loading and front opening fridge and freezer forward, as well as plenty of galley storage as you would expect on a yacht of this stature.
Opposite the galley to starboard is the navigation station which is large, has ample room for electronics and is provided with a full size, forward facing chart table. Chart stowage above. Locker aft of nav seat with gen set start panel. Wet locker aft of nav area.
Entering through the bulkhead door, aft of the nav station, takes us to the Owner’s cabin, which has the Owner’s berth to port, (originally a small double but now widened to provide a full Queen size bed). Opposite on starboard is a single berth that provides a comfortable area to lounge and can also be used as an additional passage berth when required.
There is a seat between the beds with a locker behind. Desk and lockers forward to starboard, and a locker on the centreline forward. A spacious ensuite head, with shower, bath tub, sink and vanity completes the comfortable Owner’s stateroom.
All door handles, light fittings, faucets and bathroom fittings are new from 2012.
