Wooden Ships Comments on this Uffa Fox Harbour Master Launch
Designed by Uffa Fox and built by Clare Lallows of Cowes in 1959.
One of the few motor vessels designed by Uffa Fox, she was built as the Cowes harbour masters launch and worked in the port for many years before being transferred to the Beaulieu River as harbour masters launch there.
Sold into private ownership after years as a successful work boat, she was given a thorough professional refit at Bucklers Hard Boatyard in.
This is a very attractive and unusual boat that certainly stands out from the crowd. Her layout has the engine right forward under the foredeck with a long shaft back to the propeller. The low but safe wheelhouse gives good protection with ample sitting headroom, there is also a tiller for outside helming if desired.
Her powerful Yanmar diesel gives plenty of grunt for pushing tides, she even has her original towing hook on a tow post. The boat has been tested in very adverse conditions and is very safe and stable.
This is a very interesting and special boat with strong connections to the Solent her entire life, a well known vessel in these waters. She would make an excellent pottering boat for a buyer looking for something a little different.
