GENERAL

Nordia 62 Custom Design, built in 1992 by Van Dam in Holland, designed by Robert van Dam, extensive refits in 1999 and 2009 (new engine, gearbox, shaft and prop, new teak decks, rigging completely surveyed, new paint for hull and rigging, new sail wardrobe – see section below). Both refits were done to the highest standard and under close supervision by the original build team at Van Dam yard.

ACCOMMODATIONS

African rosewood interior, high-quality marine grade upholstery. Accommodation for six persons in three cabins, full beam master cabin aft with double and single berths and spacious en-suite, forward starboard is a guest cabin with queen-sized bed (with a Pullman fold out single bed above), forward port is a single bedded crew cabin. Both cabins forward have their own water basin with cold and hot water (semi-ensuite) and shared electric toilet and shower room with integrated washing machine. All cabins have ducted reverse cycle heating / air-conditioning with their own control panels (MarineAircon). The forward storage area is separated from the accommodation by a watertight door. This bow area has ample storage and holds another simple crew berth and separate head and shower facilities. The spacious pilothouse includes interior wheel steering and all navigation and engine controls, a 4-seater sofa and table, and an oversized chart table for navigation and marine communications. A companionway down from the pilothouse connects to a very spacious saloon and dining area, seating 8 persons in comfort. The galley aft to starboard is very generous and includes rose granite counter tops, double stainless steel sinks, a large fridge with separate freezer, a 4-burner ceramic hob, electric oven and grill (there is no LPG gas on board as a safety priority consideration during the design), a microwave, full sets of cutlery and crockery. Access to the professional-style engine room is through the watertight and soundproofed doors, clad with rosewood and integrated in the galley design. The engine room also houses the Sea Recovery 600 SRC water maker, electric water heating system, two inverters, the Lewmar hydraulic power packs, water pumps, oil bath for the shaft, and other integrated systems.

MACHINERY

New Sabre-Perkins 150 HP M150i 6 cylinder turbo diesel (newly installed in 2009; 1800 engine hrs.; a factory adjustment to 225hp is possible as current engine is a limited M225i version to obtain better fuel consumption and extra long range of 1200nm on motor alone), fresh water cooling system (regularly serviced, major service as per manufacture in 2012), Newage PRA303 gearbox with Morse controls, 4-bladed bronze VariProp propeller, shaft, electric and manual bilge pumps, bilge alarm, smoke alarm in engine room, Halon fire fighting equipment in engine room with four extensions, 24v electric system, 8x service batteries, 10 x 2V Hoppecke batteries 2x engine batteries, 2x generator batteries. Cummins/Onan 13.5 kw generator (2004, major services and upgrades in 2009 and 2013), 3,200 engine hours, shore power connection, two alternators (main engine and inverter).

NAVIGATION

Plath compass, Kestral compass, 3 x Brookes & Gatehouse Hydra 2000 speed/log/echo sounder instruments, 2 x Brookes & Gatehouse wind instruments, Segatron autopilot, Raymarine integrated navigation system (Multi-functional displays E120 x 2, 48nm range radar, GPS, Navionics gold e-charts, AIS, 1200m depth sounder, heading, monitoring low light camera in engine room, more). Icon Pro SSB, Furuno 207 weatherfax, Satcom C satellite phone, fax, data telex, navigation lights, Aldis searchlight, horn, professional vessel-registered EPIRB.

OTHER EQUIPMENT

Avon RIB 4.2m dinghy with rigid keel, 50 HP Yamaha outboard with hydraulic lift and electric start, Avon 8-person life raft (last serviced 2010), 8x lifejackets, 5x harnesses, 2x lifelines, 2x lifebuoys with lights, 2x CQR 105 lbs. anchors with 120m of galvanised steel chain and 50m warp, many warps and fenders, boathook, broad sun-bimini (sunbrella) on stainless steel frame (permanent but can be dismantled), integrated stainless steel davits,4x clocks, barometer.TV and video, radio/cassette/cd player, boarding ladder, passarelle, extensive stock list of spare parts and service sets on board for remote cruising (incl. spares for main engine, genset, winches, rigging) as well as extensive toolset on board. The bimini shading can be extended to cover the full length of the boat (identical style sunbrella covers for the middle and foredeck).

REFIT

A major refit was carried out in 2009 at a reputable Phuket yard under supervision of the Nordia Van Dam shipyard in Holland. The hull, superstructure and rig compete dismantled stripped and any oxidation spots in the deck (minimal) were repaired. A new engine was fitted as were completely new exhaust pipes for the main engine and the genset. A new shaft and heavy-duty 4-blade vari-prop were fitted. The hull was laid bare and inspected for oxidation (some minor repairs were done). The teak deck was totally removed and a new deck fitted on an epoxy layer added on the aluminium, with highest quality teak of 15mm thickness and up to 5.2 long planks. The new deck design completely matches the original layout. The hull, superstructure and rigging were re-painted in the 2009 refit, according to International Paint system’s strict specifications. The rig was also completely dismantled, surveyed, serviced and painted at the Nordia yard in 1998/2003 and again fully surveyed during the 2009 refit. All sails were renewed and upgraded to radial cut and cruising laminate. All winches were serviced. A new Raymarine integrated navigation system was installed with two 15 inch multi-functional displays added to the pilot house. Two “Ocean series” Lewmar hatches on the pilot house roof were added and the plexiglass of all other Lewmar deck hatches was replaced with thicker material. All rigging ropes and mooring lines were inspected and replaced where needed. In July 2013 she was last dry-docked for 2 weeks, in this period new antifouling was applied (Trilux 33 Pro 2 coats) and new anodes were fitted, the prop was serviced according to manufacturer specifications and new prop anodes where fitted, the rudder and steering were serviced, the genset was overhauled and minor service jobs were done by our crew and staff from a professional yard.
