Tests and TrialsAll parts of the construction including structure, fittings, systems and machinery will be thoroughly tested to demonstrate satisfactory workmanship, proper working order, alignment of moving parts, suitability for intended purpose, and compliance with requirements of these specifications.
Leak TestsAll fuel, water and hydraulic oil tanks (if any) will be tested to three pounds per square inch pressure. All joints and penetrations will be tested and leaks will be repaired as necessary and re-tested. The tanks will be filled to the top of their full connections and all joints and penetrations tested.
All exterior watertight doors, hatches, manholes and windows will be hose tested by directing a stream of water against all mechanical joints.
Mechanical TestsDiesel generator sets will be tested according to manufacturer's specification for proper installation, clearances, alignment, speed control, and general running characteristics.
All piping systems will be operationally tested in all normal modes. The steering piping will be tested to 1.5 times normal operating pressure. Reliefs will be set per specification.
The galley equipment will be operationally tested in all modes.
Deck equipment will be tested according to manufacturer's specifications to demonstrate proper load handling ability and control.
Electrical TestsThe generator(s) will be tested under full ship's load (all electrically powered equipment and circuits on and running) to show proper voltage regulation and governor operation.
Electronic equipment installed by the builder, with the equipment supplied by the owner.
Dock TrialsDuring completion of all dock-side testing, the main engines and auxiliary machinery will be run at the dock for a period of four hours to demonstrate readiness for sea. Steering, control and navigating equipment (as installed by the builder) will be checked and made ready for use.
Sea TrialsUpon satisfactory completion of the dock trial, the ship will be taken on a sea trial. The trial draft will be as near as possible to the design trim and mean draft. The trial will consist of:
Engine control adjustment
Endurance run of two hours duration at maximum RPM
Four runs over a measured mile course at three speeds
Steering and maneuvering
Anchor trials
Radar and communication equipment adjusting (technician supplied by owner)
DeliveryThe delivery of the vessel will be along side the builder's dock at Anacortes, Washington, U.S.A. after completion of tests and after final adjustments and general clean up. The builder will cooperate with the owner should they elect to take delivery of the vessel in Canada outside United State territorial waters.
