OUR WAY III, a 2023 72’ Outer Reef, offers a unique opportunity to acquire the most advanced model of the 72-foot Outer Reef delivered to date. Through detailed communication during the build process, she features elegant decor selections and exceptional systems upgrades. The installed navigation systems and electronics surpass those of any previously delivered 72-foot Outer Reef. Additionally, the optional 1136 hp Caterpillar C-18 engine series provides excellent economy at hull speeds of 9-10 knots and the capability to cruise at speeds up to 17 knots when needed. The bow and stern thruster horsepower has been upgraded to the maximum option of 38 hp each.

OUR WAY III is easily managed by her owner. With a layout of four cabins and five heads, there is ample space to accommodate crew in one of the cabins, which includes a private stateroom with an ensuite head and shower. This layout also offers versatility and comfort for new owners with large families and guests.

Walkthrough

OUR WAY III exemplifies the popular Outer Reef 72’ series. A decision was made prior to the build to extend the integral swim platform area, enhancing access to various in-water activities and providing a stable area for boarding the tender. The extended swim platform allows access to the aft crew or additional guest cabin and engine room through a watertight transom door. To minimize maintenance, the swim platform has no teak, except for the port and starboard teak steps to the aft deck.

The spacious covered aft deck features optional teak decking, wing doors, a custom cabinet with built-in refrigeration and wet bar, and a comfortable staircase leading to the flybridge and tender area on the boat deck. Built-in aft seating is part of the alfresco dining area, equipped with a spacious teak table on stainless steel slides and four chairs, accommodating six or more. The standard entrance doorway for the series has been upgraded to a high-end stainless and glass custom entranceway into the salon.

The salon is accessed through a sliding glass and stainless doorway. To port is a tea cabinet housing a raising flatscreen television and several storage compartments. This L-shaped cabinet also contains many of the yacht’s entertainment systems. Ahead of this cabinet is a custom L-shaped couch, replacing the standard built-in seating, with substantial storage below. A low teak and stainless coffee table is positioned in front of the couch. To starboard, a staircase provides access to the fourth cabin and other areas below the main deck. There are two comfortable chairs and a storage cabinet between them, serving as a large end table. Further forward is a large pantry and bar cabinet. An overhead backlit rectangular stainless handrail system offers a more modern appearance instead of overhead teak strapping. The salon has a light and airy feel, enhanced by light carpeting, with prefinished engineered teak flooring beneath. Two large windows on either side provide excellent visibility.

From the salon, two steps lead up to the galley, which features the same upgraded teak flooring. Optional Silestone counters in a light color enhance the yacht's open layout. While there are cabinets above the main counter area, they do not obstruct visibility from the salon or pilothouse. Additional pantry storage is substantial, both below the counters and in a large Silestone-topped island with drawer storage on either side. The upgraded oven and burners, along with a microwave above, are located on the port side, along with a double sink and large window. To starboard, there is an on-deck head and a very large double door fridge with a freezer below.

The pilothouse, located immediately forward of the galley, offers comfortable L-shaped seating with storage below. A teak wall can separate the pilothouse from the galley for nighttime travel or private conversations. To starboard, multiple large storage cabinets line a wide staircase with stainless railing, providing easy access to the flybridge. Ahead of the L-shaped seating to port is a customized teak table with double stainless spaces, offering a comfortable dining area or visibility forward while underway. The port-side pilothouse window has been enlarged for additional visibility. Two Ultraleather fully electric Stidd helm seats with chrome bases are secured in the teak flooring. The array of electronics, navigation systems, and special attention to camera positioning have not been duplicated in sistership builds, resulting from extensive research and a sophisticated approach for ease of operation. The port and starboard doors in the pilothouse allow easy access to the side decks for line handling or remote operation. A staircase from the starboard side of the pilothouse leads down to owner and guest accommodations.

Descending from the pilothouse staircase, the forward stateroom is the VIP, featuring a full-size queen berth with large drawer storage below and hanging lockers on both sides. A large opening square port above the berth has options to block out light or provide a screen. Fixed ports with deadlight covers are on either side of the cabin. Light wall coverings above the cabinets create a warm atmosphere. An optional drop-down television replaces a smaller unit. Access to an ensuite head with a granite counter and oval sink, plus a large shower and cabinet storage, is available to starboard.

Moving aft from the VIP, the portside stateroom includes a full queen-size berth below, with drawer storage and a single pullman above. A full-height hanging locker and framed flatscreen TV are included. The ensuite head features a large shower with a granite-covered cabinet and custom sink and faucets.

One of the two complete laundry centers is located opposite the port cabin, equipped with full-size washer and dryer sets.

Moving further aft, you enter the master stateroom, which features a centerline king berth with side tables, a modern overhead valance with LED lighting, and oversized ports above the port and starboard cabinets and drawers, allowing substantial natural light. Two walk-in hanging lockers are present, one forward on the starboard side and a larger one in the aft area behind the master’s king berth.

Upgrades for this build include a dual compressor chilled water air conditioning system, along with a standalone air-conditioning system in the master that operates from the inverter, ensuring a quiet ship when at anchor without generator operation. A GPS monitor with an anchor watch system enhances safety at anchor. The ensuite head features a granite counter and custom sink with storage below, along with a spacious shower.

From the aft end of the main salon on the starboard side, a staircase leads down to a storage and tool area, a private cabin with ensuite head and shower, and a full-height engine room. At the bottom of the staircase is the second laundry center with a full-size washer and dryer. Improvements to reduce sound levels from this area have been implemented in this 2023 model, including additional sound insulation materials and a door at the bottom of the staircase.

Moving aft and to starboard, a large stainless steel workbench area with numerous storage drawers is present, along with a galleyette providing pantry space, fridge/freezer drawers, granite counter, sink, and microwave above the counter.

On the port side, a double berth cabin is finished with beautiful joinery and includes an ensuite head and shower, usable as either a fourth family or guest cabin or crew cabin with similar amenities, including a flatscreen television. A watertight transom door leads to the extended swim platform, allowing easy access to this area or the engine room, which is further forward with a watertight door entrance. For maintenance ease, the hallway and storage area have a coin dot floor, while the port-side cabin features a teak floor.

The engine room, accessed through a watertight door, is full height and houses the optional upgraded 1136 hp Caterpillar C18 twin engines, along with 20 kW Northern Lights generators. Additional systems in the engine room include a water maker, frequency and voltage converter, outboard fuel tanks, fire suppression systems, and storage areas for tools. The yacht features an advanced enclosed Seatorque shaft system, improving fuel efficiency and allowing quieter operation underway.

OUR WAY III has covered walk-around decks and seven opening gate doors on the main deck. There are port and starboard gate doors on the rear of the aft deck leading down to the extended swim platform, as well as port and starboard opening gate doors on either side of the aft deck for boarding, fitted for Marquipt tide rise steps. Additionally, opposite the pilothouse doors, there are opening gate doors for disembarkment at docks that provide access to higher docks. For safety, the Outer Reef series features high bulwarks instead of stanchions, with stainless handrails above them, and a Portuguese bridge forward with an opening gate. This is an excellent feature for safety, especially for children and pets. On the foredeck, the seating area was designed to pull out to a full lounge instead of the standard built-in seating. The windlass was upgraded to a 4000 Maxwell with 300 feet of half-inch high test chain and a 132-pound Ultra anchor.

A wide staircase from the pilothouse leads to a large flybridge. The flybridge features a four-sided enclosure under the hardtop and twin stand-alone air-conditioning units, providing a comfortable environment in all weather conditions. Electronics in the pilothouse are duplicated, and there are twin Stidd helm seats.

Additional storage cabinets were built to port and starboard, with incredible storage ahead of the flybridge helm area under the flybridge brow. Behind the helm seats are two large L-shaped sofas with storage below and adjustable tables on slides ahead of them.

For potential travel to the Great Lakes, the hinged mast supporting the electronics can lower to below 21 feet, which is also desirable if the yacht is kept undercover. A gate door was added to fully enclose the area under the hardtop. After opening the centerline gate door, built-in cabinets to port enclose a fridge and large storage area, while additional storage cabinets and a sink are located to starboard.

To protect from the sun, a large area aft of the hardtop features double canopies attached to three removable stainless poles. Built-in eight-man survival rafts are located on either side of this area for emergency use.

The tender area is located at the aft end of the flybridge, with the standard davit upgraded to a Steelhead 2000-pound davit with a 14-foot extension, allowing the 2023 Novurania with 70hp Yamaha to be lifted and placed behind the extended swim platform or to one side of the yacht. An oversized sliding hatch and comfortable staircase lead down from the area beside the tender to the aft deck.

In the spirit of redundancy, the yacht is equipped with a Glendenning handheld remote system with three plug-in stations for station keeping, and a wireless Yacht Controller for maneuvering the yacht from any area on board.
