The Oyster 61 offers a superlative combination of comfort, accommodation, and performance for a yacht of this size. Her sleek, deck saloon superstructure complements her well-balanced proportions, giving her elegant lines and a stylish profile that will stand out in any port around the world.
The Oyster 61 is designed for Bluewater, long-distance cruising. The vessel is cutter rigged with roller-hydraulic furling on the Main sail, headsail, and Staysail.
Blue Hull colour repainted with Awlgrip 2013 with gold cove line and boot top lines in standard white.
Sydney Rock was designed with realistic proportions for operation by a private owner and family crew. On deck, the main winches are powered and for true shorthanded sailing, she comes with hydraulic headsail and mainsail furling.
She is also large enough for up to two professional crew to be carried, as a viable option for the owner and his family who wish to enjoy the full amenities normally only found on a much larger yacht.
Sydney Rock is equipped to head off in the distance with all the blue water cruising kit you would expect to see aboard her.
Viewing by appointment only and highly recommended.
Manufacturer Information
With owners from five continents, the Oyster 61 enjoys a truly international recognition. Several 61s are now based in the Caribbean and USA region, with others as far afield as Singapore and Australia.
The Oyster 61 has powerful hull lines, with good form stability and a high performance, low center of gravity, bulb keel. This combination gives the yacht excellent all-round sailing capabilities and exceptional seakeeping qualities.
The Oyster 61 is well-proven as a blue water passage-maker and has already logged some exceptional daily runs in cruising trim. Like her larger sisters, the hull-to-deck connection features a raised bulwark which allows the yacht to have a graceful sheer while retaining flat side decks.
This makes for a visually sleek outboard profile further enhanced by the "eyebrow" atop the deck saloon itself. From the helm position, undisturbed forward vision is offered. Deck to cockpit access is made easier by a series of neat steps from the end of the aft coachroof and an ingenious step molded into the side of the cockpit coamings.
Construction
The hull construction is solid GRP reinforced with Kelver layer and cored cabin top.
The GRP hull is laid up single skin with structural stringers and floors to Lloyd’s approved design specification.
The hull is heavy built, with a high performance lead bulb keel,
The rudder is a counter-balance half skeg protected.
Hull Finish is dark blue with gold cove line and white boot top line
Sydney Rock was repainted in Awlgrip in 2013
Teak laid decks (recaulked 2011) and teak cap rails

Owner Comments
Sydney Rock is a fast sleek and elegant yacht which has looked after us well.
She is easy to handle with hydraulic furling on all upwind sails. SShe is very spacious with vast double berth in the master cabin and the guest cabins are well appointed.
Sydney Rock underwent two major refits in 2007 and 2012/13. She won the 2008 Oyster regatta Concours D Elegance in Palma and under our ownership she has been maintained to a very high standard.
She is offered for sale having just been antifouled and launched for the 2021 season.
