Description

Patchwork was built in the 70's in a former school in the Vosges, at the north east of France. The first time she was splashed was in a river, and her first voyage was across France down the channels and the Rhône, until she got to the Mediterranean. In 1982 the 8 years construction were completed with the masts and all the rigging.

The port captain of Gruissan invited Patchwork to became flagship of every locale regatta, it stayed her port until 2015. The owners were living onboard, and sailing to Corsica, Spain and the Balearic Island in the summer and raised their son onboard.

The son Thomas took her over when the parents moved into a house. With his wife, they did a complete refit between 2011 and 2015, and set sail in November 2015 to go around the world. Through Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Caribbean, then the Panama Canal, they went all the way to French Polynesia, and back across the Pacific to Chile.

Patchwork is a very comfortable boat both at anchor and sailing. Designed by Daniel Z Bombigher, famous french architect in the 70', the classical look was inspired by the 19' century American schooner while the construction and deck features were updated with the best technics. The 'Gran Schpountz' is a modernized romantic schooner with strong construction (strip planking and laminated frames) and the inside is meticulously finished. The square sails are perfect for downwind sailing, and she can go up to 8 knots when beamreach. The Genoa was installed to facilitate manœuvre, as the owners were sailing just the two of them. They kept the forward sails in case one would prefer the 100% classical look.

You will fall in love with her!
