Scarab Jet Boats are a long-standing brand that produces recreational runabout boats powered by inboard engines with jet-drives. With an impressive lineup of models including wakesport tow boats, fishing boats, and multi-sport vessels, it is one of just a few dedicated jet boat brands in the industry. Search for new and used Scarab jet boats for sale with our user-friendly search tool.
The Scarab brand has a long and impressive history dating back to the 1970s when California speedboat racer Larry Smith first designed and built a stern-drive deep V hull speedboat. He named it Scarab and with it won several prominent offshore races. Together with the brand Wellcraft, which is still in operation, they developed his design and production began of what became known as the Wellcraft Scarab line.
The boats went on to win multiple tournaments including the World Championship in 1977 with Betty Cook at the helm. At the height of its racing success in 1984 Wellcraft was bought by Genmar Industries and continued production of its acclaimed Scarab models all the way through to 2009, when it was bought by California Platinum Equity Group.
Much has changed throughout the years, but the high-speed heritage is still there with the focus now on family fun and tow sports. The 15 models in the current range are semi-customizable, offering different options that change the look of each boat and fine-tune its ability to serve different specific purposes. So confident is Scarab in its strong hulls that it offers a lifetime guarantee on structural hull components.
The current line-up of Scarab Jet Boats comprises three ranges; the Sport Series, The Wakesport Series, and the Multi-Sport Series. The Sport Series has six models ranging from the smallest 165 ID to the largest 285 ID, with each promising lots of fun on the water as well as an edgy and cool appearance. The silhouette honors the brand’s speedboat heritage, with angular lines and a large choice of vibrant hull colors and designs, while the bow seating allows for plenty of passengers to enjoy a day of watersports. With high speeds, excellent handling, and impressive agility, these models deliver excitement. The 285 ID—the largest size in the current Scarab line-up—has up to 600 horsepower and can accommodate up to 12 people.
The seven models in the Wakesport Series take tow-sports up a notch with a ski tow bar and lots of storage for equipment. Ranging from the 195 Wake ID to the 285 Wake ID they are designed to allow up to 10 passengers to enjoy a day of rip-roaring watersports fun with the ability to tune waves to different individual rider’s abilities and taste thanks to the available wake ballast systems. Swim platforms bow and stern, bow seating, a walk-through windshield, convertible aft seating, and a Bimini top are just a handful of the long list of standard features. The 285 Wake ID stands as one of the most luxurious recreational jet boats on the market today.
The two Multi-Sport Series models, the 235 Open ID and the 255 Open ID, offer a center console, wraparound decks, and T-top along with an optional fishing package to add features like rod holders and a livewell, creating a multifunctional recreational boat. With up to 600 horsepower, a large choice of customizable vibrant hull colors, and matching trailer as standard, it is an impressive package.
