Sea Pro Boats has an impressive 12 models in their current line-up, divided across four ranges; Bay Boats, Center Consoles, Offshore Boats, and a Dual Console model. The 4 models of Bay Boats include the 172, 210, 230, and 250 and offer a lot of features as standard. This includes features such as numerous fish boxes and livewells, a swim platform, touchscreen displays, and a trolling motor on the 230 and 250 Bay. Optional features include a hard or canvas T-Top, underwater lights, ski tow bar, helm pad, and a fresh water washdown tank to name just a few.
The Center Console models include the 202, 222, and 242 and are all built with a one-piece stringer system and foam filled for a quiet and safe ride.
For those looking to head farther offshore and tackle big game, the Offshore range consists of the 262, 292, and 322, the largest models in Sea Pro’s repertoire. With twin outboards offering up to 425 hp each, huge wraparound deck spaces, a two-seat helm with the latest in touchscreen technology, a convertible bow table/sun pads, and so much more, these are some seriously capable, well-designed offshore fishing boats.
Sea Pro Boats is a well-respected and long-standing American brand of center console fishing boats whose origins date back to the 1980s. It was founded by brothers Jimmy and Tommy Hancock and the brand quickly flourished. For almost two decades Sea Pro produced a range of affordable center consoles, until in 2004 it was approached by boating giant Brunswick. The Hancock brothers decided to sell, but the economic downturn of 2008 saw Brunswick close down Sea Pro with a big loss of employment and an iconic brand.
Fast forward to 2015 and Jimmy Hancock, along with friend and Tidewater Boats founder Preston Wrenn, decided it was time to restart the Sea Pro brand with a new generation of boats they called “The Next Wave.” It’s an impressive story, one which has resulted in the renewed success of a much-loved brand and the re-employment of the skilled workforce. In fact, so successful was the restarting of Sea Pro Boats that in its first full year of production it had produced over 300 vessels in its 200,000 square foot manufacturing facility in South Carolina. Today it builds well over 1,000 models a year.
Sea Pro Boats has always prided itself on offering good value for money, with a lot of features included as standard such as plush seating options, fishing accessories, and the latest electronics. Its saltwater capable boats also come with a competitive warranty and attentive customer service post-purchase which includes private owners groups for Next Wave models (post 2015) where they can interact with the brand’s managers and technicians.
Sea Pro Boats are sold predominantly across eastern United States, with dealers in Florida, Texas, North and South Carolina, Georgia, and New York as well as Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Why are Sea Pro Boats popular?
The brand has a long reputation and a loyal following so when it was resurrected in 2015 following a time of closure it came from a strong starting place. With an emphasis on value for money and strong customer service, Sea Pro Boats knows what fishing enthusiasts and their families are looking for and deliver with a carefully considered line-up of models.
What are the best Sea Pro Boat models?
Sea Pro has a long legacy and therefore you’ll find many older models on the used market. The current line-up includes bay boats, center consoles, and offshore models all of which have been very well-received by keen anglers. For those looking for more of a crossover model, the award-winning 245 Sandbar Boat brings a lot to the table at an attractive and competitive price point.
