Silverton Yachts began operation in 1969 and grew to be a well-respected builder of mid-sized flybridge yachts, sportfishing yachts, and convertibles with models ranging from 30 to 52 feet in length.
Henry Luhrs and his sons John and Warren built over 1,000 small boats and skiffs a year from their facility on the shores of New Jersey. During the 1980s and ‘90s John and Warren began building aft-cabin cruising yachts, and the brand was responsible for developments such as the SideWalk, a molded stairway on the side of a flybridge.
In 2012, after the brand ceased operations due to business conditions, it was purchased by Egg Harbor Group, also in New Jersey, but the new owner built only a few new Silverton boats.
Over the years, Silverton Yachts built many models, with convertibles, sport coupes, and motor yachts forming the core of its line-up. Some of its later models include the impressive 45 and 50 Convertibles, which feature spacious and elegant interiors with rich woods, neutral colors, and a suite of amenities for longer term living aboard. They offer berths for 5 passengers, as well as a cozy saloon and well-equipped galley. The well-designed flybridge is a major component of this range which was Silverton’s longest and best-selling series. Other models within this range have included the popular 43 Convertible, as well as the more compact 33, 36, 37, and 42 Convertibles.
Other ranges to note include the Sport Bridge Series, which launched in the early 2000s. The 33 Sport Bridge was one of its most popular models, offering a high performance, semi-displacement saltwater fishing boat with all the luxuries needed for family days on the water. Within this range were the 38 Sport Bridge and 43 Sport Bridge, which incorporated more interior living space for the extra length and an impressive suite of features which came as standard.
The Motor Yacht range is well represented on the used market too, with the 39 Motor Yacht and 43 Motor Yacht two of the most widely available. These compact yachts were some of the best in their class at the time of launch in the mid 2000s. With impressively spacious interiors, expansive flybridges, a huge aft stateroom with an island queen berth, ahead-of-its-time entertainment systems, an aft hardtop, and swim platform they make competent family cruisers.
One of Silverton’s models that remains a firm favorite is the 45 T-Series, a sportfishing yacht which was first launched in the early 2000s and has been built for over 20 years. This convertible saltwater fisher pulls 575 HP from its inboard engine and is fully geared for a successful day of deep-sea fishing. Easy-to-clean, functional, spacious decks provide plenty of space for reeling in catches and there are fish boxes, livewells, and rod storage galore.
