Rare Find in USA,Pack your Supplies & She's Ready to Go! This 1976 Solaris 42 is a Cruising Catamaran Sailboat. She was built in England by Solaris and is an ocean-going sloop-rigged catamaran. This Solaris is hull #48. The owners purchased this Solaris in 1995 and have owned her for 25 years. The husband loves how well built the Solaris is, how well she sails and that she sails smoothly without leaning. He reports his catamaran has held up in storms and is technically unsinkable. She is a glorious boat to live on. This Solaris is powered by twin 2003 Volvo Penta MD2030 30 HP, 3 cylinder diesel engines when not under sail. There are 1,200 hours on each engine. The 2-75 gallon fuel tanks have a fuel polishing system. Four 55-watt and 30-watt solar panels and a Morningstar controller run the boat indefinitely. When you go below, you're greeted by the warm, rich woodwork throughout the large salon. There are two facing L-shaped settees forming an almost continuous horseshoe-shaped conversation and entertainment area. A fixed dinette table folds out for meals. The owner has made parts to convert the settee into 2 berths for additional sleeping. Surrounding the salon are built-in bookshelves, a glass rack, and sliding bulkhead panels that open the salon to the navigation station port side and galley starboard side. The Solaris has 4 double berth cabins paired with a mirrored vanity and seat each with abundant storage. The port hull has a forward cabin with a navigation station between the cabins. The aft cabin is on the other side of the port head. The starboard hull has a forward cabin on one side of the galley. A long galley offers more than adequate counter space for food preparation. A wall of storage cabinets and drawers on the salon side provides plenty of storage. A Force 10 three-burner propane stove with oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and cutting board. There is also a Solaris built-in freezer cabinet 6 cu ft with Waeco 12v freezer. The deck is spacious and relaxing with a large built-in seating big enough to take a nap. A folding cockpit seat opens up the cockpit space.
