Stingray’s position as an industry leader is renowned: It is the first company to install and use what was America’s largest CNC flat-bed water jet cutting system in 1996. Other unique firsts include the use of environmentally-friendly low VOC gelcoats and resins in the manufacture of fiberglass, as well as the introduction of a website in 1995. There’s more: Stingray earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for a 1,804-mile trip down the Mississippi River, and was the first company to build a V-6 powered stern drive boat capable of exceeding 60 mph.

While the production of quality, high-performance, value-for-money boats is the company’s biggest drive, it achieved its success through meticulous attention to customer service. It has been the recipient several times of the Marine Industry Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association. 

Model ranges/Models of Stingray Boats

Throughout the decades, Stingray has built dozens of models of boats, and these are widely represented on the used boat market. With so many boats built, and a reputation for durability and quality, Stingray Boats offer good value for money as used models, whether it’s a 220 SX from the 1990s or a more recent model from the past 10 years. 

The current lineup consists of 23 models across four ranges: center consoles, dual consoles, deck boats, and sport boats. There are six models in the center console series, which includes the 173CC as the smallest, and the 273CC as the largest. In fact, the 273CC is the largest model currently offered by Stingray (and the brand’s flagship model), and is a roomy, comfortable, and versatile boat with Stingray’s signature Z-Plane hull design. 

The four deck boats range from 17 feet to 21 feet in length and are built as fun day boats for families and small groups of friends. With well-thought-out seating, including bow seating and an L-shaped bench, plus tow points and lots of stowage, they are popular and smooth, easy-to-handle boats.

Stingray’s dual console bow riders come in six outboard models including the 269DC, the largest in the range. It is a high-performance model, with elegant styling, twin engines, the Z-Plane Deep V Hull, and walk-through windshield. With a hard T-Top, it can be geared for serious fishing expeditions and is a versatile and sleek crossover model. Others in the series range from 17- to 23-feet and include features such as freshwater sinks, a cockpit table, and roomy swim platforms. 

Stingray’s Sport Boat offering includes the 23 OCX and the 23 OSX, the latter being the bow rider option. These speedy sport boats pack a punch and have lots of useful features such as dual bucket seats and a removable 25-quart cooler to make days on the water that much more fun.

Looking at the used market, there are a large number of Stingray weekend cruisers for sale; they offer good value for money. These models, which include the 240CS and 250CS, are no longer in the brand’s lineup but were built for many years.
