This Stor Tumlaren - Josephine of Hoo is a very attractive vessel, which the owner has sailed over the past 33 years to many destinations on which, she has proved her sea keeping qualities. This rare classic yacht is a fine example of her type and will be attractive to those wishing to own a traditional sailing craft with heritage and character.
Josephine of Hoo is powered by a raw water cooled 1996 Yanmar 1GM10 9Hp diesel engine through a shaft drive to fixed 2 bladed propellor. The engine alternator charges the two 12V batteries.
Construction:
Josephine of Hoo is a Bermudan sloop designed by Knud Reimers and built by R & A Hamper of Fareham in 1960. The hull is constructed in mahogany planking over steam bent oak timbers, through fastened with clenched copper boat nails and roves. The strakes are counter bored with matching wooden dowels covering the nail heads. The decks are planked and clothed with a mahogany superstructure. She has a lead ballasted long keel with a spade rudder hung from a stern post.
Rigging and Sails:
She is 3/4 rigged with stainless steel standing rigging last renewed in 2004, keel stepped hollow varnished Sitka spruce mast and anodised aluminimum boom. (wooden boom damaged, but available as template)
Fitted with forestay and inner forestay with a variety of hank on headsail sails.
The sail wardrobe contains, slab reefed Saturn Mainsail and No1 Genoa, Delta No2 Genoa and Working Jib, No1 Saturn Spinnaker, No2 North Spinnaker and McWilliams Storm Jib.
