A rare chance to own a restored classic Poole Powerboats Sovereign S20, one of the first Sunseeker boats produced by this now legendary brand! Combining classic lines with excellent sea keeping and a cosy cabin for overnighting, she benefits from an upgraded Volvo Penta 3.0GL engine and SX outdrive offering sparkling performance together with much-improved reliability and economy. Well suited to coastal cruising, they are also becoming popular for river and lake use due to their easily handled nature and charming retro appeal.

Viewing by appointment only through our Essex office on.

Accommodation

The large cockpit is fitted with pedestal mounted helm and navigators seats and a full-width aft bench seat that converts to form a sunpad, all trimmed in blue leatherette vinyl. A classic teak companionway with louvered door opens into the cuddy cabin which has a V-shape seating area offering seated headroom and two single berths (an in-fill could easily be created to form a double), sea toilet (beneath berth), storage lockers, opening hatch, lined interior and cabin light. There is a storage cupboard and small sink fitted aft to starboard, if desired it would be very easy to create a small galley.

Mechanical Systems

Located in aft engine compartment, Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D 135hp 4-cylinder petrol engine. Seawater cooled. Morse type single lever controls with electric start. Volvo SX sterndrive with hydraulic trim and tilt.

The engine and outdrive leg are believed to be new in 2009, replaced during a previous restoration which was never finished, since then they have only run for approximately 15hrs. Although no paper evidence is available the 3.0 GLP-D was only constructed inso cannot be earlier than this, and is likely to have been fitted at some date after this due to stocking and installation time.

Electrical Systems

12v Battery charged via engine alternator. Electrical distribution panel.

Deck Equipment

  • Anchor with chain and warp
  • Stainless steel pulpit, grab and cockpit rails
  • Stainless steel and teak bathing platform
  • Stainless steel and teak bathing ladder
  • Blue tonneau cover

Navigation Equipment

  • VHF radio with whip aerial
  • Navigation lights

Additional Equipment

A trailer is included which has brakes to one axle, and has recently been repainted, had new rollers and wheel bearings fitted. It appears to fit the boat well and be in very good condition but we would recommend that a purchaser has this inspected by a trailer expert to ascertain whether it is road legal before towing on the roads, and fits a winch for easy launching and retrieving.

Construction

Sunseeker Sovereign S20 built in approximately 1973 by Poole Powerboats Ltd to a fast planing design. The GRP hull has recently been repainted in the original Royal blue (by hand to allow for easier touching in when required), with off-white GRP superstructure and decks. Original teak effect cockpit sole boards. Wheel steering to outdrive leg. Teak and stainless steel bathing platform with folding ladder.
